Re: new cpap user, picking dme, asking for s9/apap? help?
My AHI's were in the 60's, my oxygen saturation was very low to the extent that insurance would pay for the night time supplemental oxygen. I switched to the ResMed S9 Autoset and to the Nasal gel mask and my AHI's are 1.3 to 4.7. Good news my blood oxygen saturation is now at 98% and I am feeling b...

Re: Need advice from Resmed SoftGel users
Try washing it daily. That may be of some help. I know I have to wash my at least twice a week for optimum performance.

Re: Time for a new mask cushion?
Definitely a new cushion. Plus the straps do stretch, so they do need to be tightened. Also the cushion may be needed to be washed more frequently to remove facial oils, etc., to get an effective seal.

Re: Mirage Liberty issue
There is a gel strip that is normally used for the bridge of the nose. You could trim off the tab and use that on your upper lip. I have used on the bridge of my nose and it solved the problem when I was using the Liberty

Re: DME Charges for S9 Elite Total $1,495.00
I'm glad to own my S9 now, but the DME charges totaled $1,495.00 after $500 for two months' rental and the final purchase charge of $995. That is almost $700 more than what our host charges for the same machine. Now, I did see the RT several times for the initial setup, to return a mask at no charg...

DME Respiratory Technican
Work with your respiratory therapist; I had a VPAP Auto Set 25 machine and I was getting AHI's in the 25 range. They weren't sure if I had CSA and or OSA and my sleep quality was poor. They got me a loaner S9 Auto Elite which can differentiate between OSA and CSA plus many other functions. My AHI's c...

Oximeter
Is anyone oxygen deficient? Have you used an oximeter to check for oxygen saturation? Have you been prescribed to take make up oxygen along with your BiPap treatment?

Re: Breathe Right strips
Using the Breathe-Rite strips is endorsed by my DME. It helps the nose only, especially stuffiness. The PAP pressure is the one that keeps the airway open.

Re: Switching from nasal to full face mask
I used a full face mask and had to high a leak rate plus my AHI's were 24. I just switched to a gel nasal mask and my AHI's dropped to 4.4. I use the humidifier set to medium, filled with distilled water, set on medium. My leak rates have dropped as well. I also use a chin strap; SP Medical Adjustab...

Re: any recommendations to help clear nasal passages.....
I believe I have sinusitis and/or some sort of head cold and my nose is so congested at night since I got this cold a few days ago that I can't even wear my mask (nasal mask only). What are some suggestions to help clear my nasal passages and keep them clear while wearing the mask? I'm currently on...

I have no idea. My primary care Doctor recommended me to the sleep clinic and the insurance paid for it. I am retired and am enrolled in an HMO here in Oklahoma.

ResMed S-9 Autoset
Wow, I just got a call from my DME and they are getting the new S-9 Auto set and my Doctor wants me to use it for a couple of weeks. This will differentiate between CSA and OSA plus it has EPR - expiratory pressure relief. I have been on Auto Pap on my current machine but not enough detail has been ...
