Re: full face masks for the bearded
Otter I have a beard and been on the hose for about 6 months. I tried a number of different mask to see what works. I have a Respironics FullLife mask which is very similar to the Quattro FX. The fighter pilot style of mask. The biggest thing with this mask is sealing the leak at the bridge of the n...

CPAP and Night cough Attacks
Hello For the past 2 weeks I have been battling a cold / flu and been having a nightly cough attack about 2 hours into wearing my mask. It seems the air is triggering this after about 2 hours and I end up coughing so much that I do not wear the mask for the rest of the night. I have tried scented eu...

Re: FlexiFitHC432 vs Forma Mask
As a fellow bearded CPAPER I have a Forma, and works well. The foam helps give cushion to the seal you are trying to achieve. I also have a FitLife and it has no foam more the hollow type and it have over tighten a bit to get a seal. The problem I have with the Forma is the forehead piece is not com...

Re: Full Face Masks that go under chin
I have F&P Forma which has the chin support and it is a good mask, but I found the fore head support was annoying me and moving the mask when I tossed and turned. Went to the Resperonics FitLife because it had no forehead piece and it doesn't leak, but I am using the silicone nose cushion which help...

Re: Late night exercise and CPAP therapy
Thanks for all the responses It seems a general consensus that late night exercise is a no-no. I am going to have to tailor something as my wife and I work a late schedule so we do not get home from our commute from work until 7pm etc.. So by the time dinner is done, it is 8.30pm then a walk or I ha...

Late night exercise and CPAP therapy
I am wondering if this has happen to others who exercise late in the evening. Went to the gym at 10pm for a quick workout, and I was wired until 1am. I could not sleep and hence a lousy sleep didn't wear my mask all night. I also play hockey late 2 evenings a week with the same effect. Has anybody f...

Re: "I Feel Good!" Owwww!
Hahaha, well, just completed second night ever on CPAP, and must say, yesterday morning I felt good, this morning I almost feel a sense of "mania!" Tons of energy, chatty, enthused, a bit hyper... is this what "normal" feels like? I guess so I felt this way for the last couple of days as I have bee...

Re: Ontario Criteria for Prescribing a APAP
In Ontario, it is very unlikely you will get a pescription for an auto with that sleep study result. You MAY be able to convince the doctor to write a prescription for an auto but, if you look up the Assistive Devices Program information on the Ontario Government webiste, you will see what the crit...

Ontario Criteria for Prescribing a APAP
Just got back from my 2nd sleep study where they monitored the pressure and adjusted my pressure based on sleeping positions and rem sleep etc.... The tech said that I had a range of pressure from being on my back which was higher at 12 then on my side at 8 I have been diagnosed with mild to moderat...

Re: Calling all Ontario Users
Where in Ontario are you? I've had really good luck with a place in sudbury. I just got my machine in February. Oshawa. Already went through 1 DME as the first one was like a used car sales person. The second one Medigas has been fine but looking over their quote and what they are offering it seems...

Re: Calling all Ontario Users
I went through this process with Vitalaire just over two years ago. Same scenario as you with a loaner first, then titration study, after which you are expected to buy equipment from the DME (in your case, Medigas). I found this forum before my titration assessment, so I was well armed with informa...

Calling all Ontario Users
Now that I have embraced (sort of) this therapy, I am going for my second sleep study with my loaner machine tomorrow night they had a cancellation. Also hoping to get Doctors final script on friday. I am currently with Medigas as my DME but it seems they do not have a good rep. What do I need to te...
