Re: PRS1 60-Series Heated Hose - Should It Feel Warm?
Thanks! That helps - I had a feeling that maybe the effect might be more subtle as far as touch, since there the element is much much longer with all those coils in the hose. I'll give it a try with the preheat~

Re: Is lansinoh really safe?
I think the other thing that makes Lanisoh safe (vs something like Vicks or Vaseline with a petrolatum base) is that the viscosity is much, much higher. Body heat is not going to lower the viscosity enough that you'd be in danger of aspirating it when used normally (i.e. anything short of stuffing y...

PRS1 60-Series Heated Hose - Should It Feel Warm?
Hi everyone, I recently switched from a Respironics M-series APAP to a PR System One 60-series with the heated hose. It works GREAT, but I have the heat turned up all the way on the hose, and it does not feel to me as though it gets even slightly warm to the touch - is that normal? With the M-series...

Re: Lansinoh is a God Send !
Lanisoh is freakin' amazing stuff. Expensive but as others have mentioned, the tube lasts FOREVER! I have also found it useful if my nostrils (nares!) are a bit raw, say from a runny nose. It provides enough of a barrier that I can comfortably use my CPAP with no problem. And it lasts...I've never h...

Re: What were you, and what are you now?
I can't find my copy of the sleep study, but I know the numbers were pretty bad (classified as "severe"). I snored like a chainsaw. I bought my own [used] APAP and played around with the settings until things worked, and haven't touched them since. Just did a "checkup" on the data and I seem to be p...

Re: New to CPAP... Some questions about the numbers...
Hi Mike, I have a very heavy full beard and moustache and have had pretty good results with a nasal mask, but AMAZING results with nasal pillows. I am not generally a mouth-breather when I sleep, but even if I were, I don't think the addition of a chin strap would negate the comfort and the lack of ...

Re: 25 Year old Having Issues
I will put in a vote for the Optilife that you were looking at - it's what I use and I can heartily recommend it, so something to keep in mind if you still feel that the new mask isn't working out, or if you just want to try something that's really different from a "regular" mask. They come with S, ...

Re: safe way to use afrin???
I have also suffered from getting a stuffed up nose around bedtime and have had to resort to something like Afrin (in addition to daily Flonase and saline irrigation). I have had good luck using a half-dose (i.e. a half-squirt in each nostril) or a quarter dose (a half-squirt in just one nostril) be...

Re: Which hose management system?
I also use a home-made version of the CozyHose Boss, and I LOVE it. All the parts are very cheap and readily available and there are no special skills needed. You just have to assemble things, which takes very little time (15 minutes, max). As far as the ease of putting it away, you just unhook it a...

Re: Very high pressure prescription
I don't have a PR One setup myself, but I recall reading that the humidifier has some kind of "intelligent humidification" gobbledygook built into it, possibly translatable to "too smart for its' own good"! From the description of the way that it works, it apparently adjusts to eliminate rainout, an...

Re: Should cpaptalk Be Divided Into Categories or Subsections?
I used to frequent a forum in which the topic was a particular type of car. It bears a lot of resemblence to this one - a fair number of posts each day, very little moderating (forum admin would step in only when things got really out of control), and a community of regulars that kept the conversati...

Anyone Misdiagnosed With Attention Deficit Disorder?
Apparently, it is not at all uncommon for the cluster of symptoms that are associated with Attention Deficit Disorder to be misdiagnosed as such, when the real culprit is actually OSA. While I don't doubt that I do indeed have an attention deficit to some degree, after just week or so of treating th...

Re: Do you wake up feeling refreshed?
I had a little bit of a headcold the night of my titration, and I STILL woke up feeling pretty amazing the next day. It has been strange to wake up and go through my day feeling awake and organized, and yes, I would dare say "refreshed"!
