Re: Insurance changed to Kaiser - new study?
I don't know if the Watch-Pat is capable of collecting data related to that. It is. I received both an AHI and an RDI from both of my Kaiser WatchPat sleep studies, so she should be re-diagnosed unless something with her has changed physically (loss of weight, tonsillectomy, etc.). I've gained a co...

Re: Need recommendation for nasal mask
I love the Zest by F&P. I was miserable with nasal pillows and then I tried this mask and boom. I find I don't even notice it at all and can even sleep with my face in the pillow, etc.

Re: Insurance changed to Kaiser - new study?
I'm also now becoming worried if they do make me do the full study - how do they determine diagnosis of OSA? I had low AHI in my previous study but a crazy high number of RERAs. The sleep doc said that my brain tended to wake me up before full-on apnea. Based solely on AHI from the previous study I...

Re: Insurance changed to Kaiser - new study?
Ugh. I'm a grad student. I can't afford time without CPAP therapy. I find it very hard to fall asleep without CPAP now and wake with miserable headaches. I'm going to try to push them to accept my previous diagnosis of OSA and maybe I can just re-titrate? I'm willing to do that. I'm also now becomin...

Insurance changed to Kaiser - new study?
I've been a very happy CPAP user for about 4 years now, I can't sleep without it at this point! My insurance changed to Kaiser at the beginning of the year (not a problem, I actually like Kaiser), but my sleep study is 5 years old and she wants me to have a new one. I'm picking up a home study thing...

I use tap water. I'm also not a fan of how germ-phobic people have become.

To be fair, there's a heavy bias toward automatic machines on this forum that I am not immune to. If you are happy with your machine and use it regularly, that's really the most important thing. There is a heavy bias for automatic machines. But, not everyone needs them. I set my machine to 10 (scri...

Re: Things were going so well... and then....
I had the same problem with my Swift LT. I switched to the nasal mask, added a few handmade mask liners (forehead, nasal, side straps) and never looked back. I get less leaks and I'm more comfortable sleeping on my side and don't need to readjust when I change position.

Re: Sick and tired of being sick and tired
I'm not experienced with an APAP, but I would definitely set your minimum higher. I've got straight CPAP set at 10 and I don't even use the ramp feature because I don't get enough air. As for the full face mask - you could use that to address your mouth breathing. There are mask liners made by CPAP ...

I really appreciate everyone chiming in. I sent her the link a while back, and she's been reading everything. I'm the local SA advocate in our group If she feels comfortable posting, we might be able to address some of the reasons she might have for refusing treatment. For example, I was irrational...

Re: Tales of low-moderate treatment?
Hey all, A friend of mine got diagnosed as "low-moderate", and she decided not to pursue CPAP. She doesn't remember her AHI, but says she thinks it could be in the low 30s (which my doc says is the low end of severe). Low-moderate could mean the 5-15 range as well. Since we don't have an exact numb...

Re: How often do you replace nasal pillows on your mask?
[quote}If you have a good seal don't take the mask off ...detatch the hose and reattach when you get back[/quote] With my experience on the Swift LT is that it's extremely easier to pull the mask off and put it back on than get the tube off. That tube is on there tight. I don't know if all nasal pil...

Did you feel air leaking up towards your eyes? An air leak could have tried out your eyes and made them irritated.
