Re: How long to try CPAP without humidifier
Talk to your Dr ... And have him tell them you need it, they should listen to the Dr, but your just a patient ... That probably already paid for it! (Or why would they not want to SELL you one?) Here in the UK you get the CPAP provided at no cost at all, but they presumably want to save additional ...

Re: How long to try CPAP without humidifier
Uhm dry nose, etc. are the reasons you get a humidifier. Why would you have to wait?? The sleep tech in the UK NHS said that they found that have found that if they don't treat teething problems with CPAP patients normally get used to it. Suppose its the cheapest option. They were like, at least yo...

Re: How long to try CPAP without humidifier
NHS supplied Sleepcube Standard. England or somewhere in the UK I would imagine. Pretty much the most basic of bare bones machines. In the US market, this exact same device is referred to as the DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Standard CPAP http://www.eu-pap.co.uk/sleepcube-standard-cpap.html £275.00 for mach...

Re: How long to try CPAP without humidifier
I don't know about the UK or the rest of Canada but in Ontario a humidifier is "standard" issue when a cpap is prescribed. I was diagnosed in 2002 and a humidifier just came with the setup, along with tubing and a mask. For the first machine anyway, we in Ontario get some Provincial Government assi...

Re: So sleepy now I'm sleeping
Guess what, they then found I'd got UARS... Hi, There are a few of us in the forum that have UARS. I started with OSA, and due to losing weight, the OSA is essentially gone. However, I started to feel poorly again, and a new study found that I had UARS. That is a lot harder to treat since it isn't ...

Skippydoo: You are off to a very good start. You are just beginning to help your body heal. The fact you already feel better is a good sign; much of the healing power of your therapy is being directed at first to help things you may not even be aware of. Your body has suffered numerous indignities ...

Re: So sleepy now I'm sleeping
I had a past sleep study suggest UARS because of high arousals, however they used thermistors, which are incapable of linking the arousals to breathing events. My current doc is going to put me in the lab again specifically looking for it. But anyways... Mind sharing exactly how you were diagnosed?...

So sleepy now I'm sleeping
I had a terrible two years, diagnosed Fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, health related anxiety, ibs, paplitations, high blood pressure etc etc. Guess what, they then found I'd got UARS after I kept asking for a sleep study at least 3 times over 6 months. Been on CPAP a few weeks and feel nearly nor...

Thanks Pugsy, I'm gonna keep pushing. CheersPugsy wrote:You have waited long enough. Push for the humidifier. It will probably help with the congestion as well as other dry symptoms. When the nasal mucosa get too dry they swell up trying to retain moisture.

Re: Best mask for side sleeping?
Hello my Resmed Mirage Ultra is like a limpet! I do move around lots at night, normally ending up on my side. I lie on the edge of my pillow when getting to sleep. Gosh knows what happens in the night but the mask stays on, the S9 Auto I had for a week said my leakage was ultra low so it must do the...

How long to try CPAP without humidifier
I just got my first own CPAP NHS supplied Sleepcube Standard. I have UARS and a pressure of 10. I asked for a humidifier the second day on CPAP but the clinic said to wait, as I should get used to it. Its 2 weeks now and I wake like clockwork with bone dry mouth, and dry sinus etc. I do mouth breath...
