Re: How big a deal is it not to clean your air tube?
My machine is nearly seven years old. The hose has maybe been changed once, but I can't remember. The inside of the hose never gets cleaned. It's been more than two years since I had a minor cold. Others on the forum have posted that you are more likely to introduce something inside the hose by cle...

Re: How big a deal is it not to clean your air tube?
Thanks! Again, I'm very happy to read this. When I read in my ResMed guide that I'm supposed to wash the air tube every week, I freaked out.Julie wrote:Hi- been on Cpap x ? 10 yrs and think I've only cleaned it once. Have not had even a cold in triple that time.

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
I've been on a CPAP machine for 10 months, and after a short period of brain fog early on, it's been amazing. I have more energy, my sheets aren't all torn up when I wake up, I don't have endless "awake" dreams that are not restful, I don't have endless nightmares (which I did almost every night), e...

Re: How big a deal is it not to clean your air tube?
I only clean mine about ever 6 months or so, I have a spare so just trade out the hoses and let the used one dry out for a few days, then it gets put away until I remember to give it a change up. I can't tell you how happy I am to read this!!! I had visions of bacteria breeding in my air tube, migr...

How big a deal is it not to clean your air tube?
So I've been using a CPAP machine since October 24, 2012 (just over 10 months), and I just realized that I have not been cleaning my air tube. I've been washing the mask and water tub regularly, but completely forgot about the air tube. I'm going to clean it today, and start cleaning it every week, ...

Re: Brain Fog
Let's put it this way: I had no brain fog before using pap therapy, using cpap/apap over 2 separate trials of 3 months each and having brain fog appear on the scene and get progressively worse over time, and consultations with experienced and competent professionals which brought no resolution to s...

Re: Brain Fog
Once you learn to view the reports, you can see a lot of things. See how you're doing in terms of number of apneas. See how this varies from day to day on a graph. See your data in graph form from day to day. See if you have periods of time with air leaks. This can tell you you're having mouth leak...

Re: Brain Fog
Unheated hoses are so cheap that you can just buy an unheated hose or two out of pocket and keep it on hand as a spare. For that mattter, if you don't need the heated hose in summer, just put it away and use the unheated hose and save wear and tear on the expensive one. That's a great tip - I will ...

Re: Brain Fog
That's good to know because I'm leaning towards the ResMed S9 Elite right now.Pugsy wrote: Initially with the ResMed S9 heated hose there were some complaints of the hose tearing but I think that ResMed reworked the design and materials and that is no longer a common problem.

Re: Brain Fog
dry throat when I wake up If you are using a nasal mask this is not a good sign. It means you are opening your mouth and losing therapy. "Loose lips sink ships( or therapy)" Sorry I should have been more specific - I blame brain fog for that confusing post. Those were the symptoms I USED to have be...

Re: Brain Fog
Thanks for the additional info Pugsy. It makes a lot of sense to me to have it "just in case". No downside really, right?Pugsy wrote: You may not need the heated hose...but it would be better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Re: Brain Fog
If you have the ability to change machines, I would definitely TAKE THE ICON BACK. I got mine about a month before finding this forum, too late to return it for another machine. I've been on CPAP 12 years & just recently learned I had a right to my own data and how much that data can help with your...

Maybe it isn't necessary then - one less component to worry about.BlackSpinner wrote: I never used one in Montreal and I had my room cold. I have a pink camo polar fleece hose cover. I haven't needed one in Edmonton either.

Re: Brain Fog
I'm also curious about what exactly I can do with the data from the S9 Elite, although I know it's probably a silly question. For example, I can change the pressure and humidity levels, which is pretty much it isn't it? I could also change my mask, but so far I'm not showing any leaks when the data ...

Re: Brain Fog
SIO, I wish you the best of luck in sorting things out for yourself. My own experience was no brain fog before treatment, and increasingly worsening brain fog and irritability after treatment. This was over many weeks and everything reported optimal treatment: data on my machine, follow-up study to...
