Has anyone here used the Breathe Mate oral appliance? It looks interesting.

Re: aveoTSD, Tongue Stabilizing Device
I really prefer the Good Morning Snore Solution. It's smaller, only encases the very tip of the tongue and completely prevents mouth breathing. Totally stops snores, too. Plus you cant grind your teeth when wearing it! And zero dry mouth! If I didn't have so many central events, I'd still be using o...

Re: future eye test for OSA?
That is really interesting. I'm having my eyes examined next week. I'm going to print out the study and ask my doctor I'd she sees any increased tortuosity. It would be wonderful if a simple eye exam could give a person an early heads up on OSA.

Re: Getting a copy of CPAP Prescription?
The logic of this is kind of interesting. I'm not sure that a prescription as such is actually part of the "portability" part of HIPAA. I know for sure that you can't just get a copy of your prescription for, say, oxycontin, or some other controlled substance that is consumable by invoking HIPAA. I...

Re: Getting a copy of CPAP Prescription?
I now have a prescription on file at CPAP.com. You wouldn't believe the hoops I had to jump through to get that prescription faxed to them! CPAP.com first requested a copy, and 24 hours went by with no response. So I called. The nurse first informed me that I was not "entitled" to a copy, and that m...

Re: New TAP PAP mask review
I've used the TAP PAP mask for a couple of nights now, and I give it two thumbs up. It was a breeze to fit, it's comfortable, VERY stable, I can roll over and stay asleep! Even with my Swift FX, I was waking multiple times a night to readjust the nasal pillows because they'd shift when I moved. With...

Re: Change Pressures on Respironics System One 60 Series
This really helped me out! After my machine and I visited my DME (apria) most of my menu items disappeared from the info and setup screens. When I called to inquire what had caused the change, no one could tell me. I am not saying the clinician menu items were disabled on purpose, but they were disa...

Re: New TAP PAP mask review
I received my TAP PAP mask this morning. That was sure quick shipping! I have already fitted the mouthpiece and practiced putting it on and removing it. It's a snug fit, but I have worn a mouth guard for years to prevent me from grinding my teeth, and I don't find this mouthpiece to be any tighter o...

Re: Gel - or somethinbg for -- dry mouth?
I tried Biotene and didn't like it. I've never been really sure why my mouth was so dry. I haven't shown any leaks but extremely minor ones of very short duration. If you are experiencing mouth leaks, you will need to address that issue, but if you are like me: I offer my solution as an alternative,...

Re: Diet: Eat Fat!
Eat butter, consume MCT, use coconut oil, but DO NOT ever mix in unhealthy messes like Smart Balance. Sorry, I will stick with my doctor's advice to strictly limit saturated fats. He also says Smart Balance is a good substitute and they have peer reviewed medical studies to back it up. I think a lo...

Re: Diet: Eat Fat!
The trick to improving health while consuming fats is to ONLY eat naturally occurring fats. Eat butter, consume MCT, use coconut oil, but DO NOT ever mix in unhealthy messes like Smart Balance. I tried Atkins a long time ago, and lost a lot of weight, but my overall health went down. Not because of ...

Re: periodontal disease/tap pap?
I am a long time user of a mouthguard. My dentist made it to prevent me from grinding my teeth, because I was really damaging my teeth. The mouthguard she made is made of acrylic----it smelled alot like when you are getting fake nails----and I had to go back several times to adjust the fit before it...

Re: My First Sleep Study, Straightforward & Simple. . . right?
If you are already balding, go ahead and shave your whole head. Sleep techs LOVE bald guys! HaHa! You are funny! I was told to bring comfortable, loose nightclothes because the "leads" were going to be snaked up from my legs to be bundled with the other leads from my chest, stomach, and head. I am ...

Re: New TAP PAP mask review
Papit, I'm going to do as you suggest tomorrow morning. My doctor faxed my prescription over to Apria, and when I walked in there I was presented with the machine and the mask the dr. recommended. I questioned the Apria rep. as to why I wasn't being given options to choose from....a recommendation d...
