Re: I Have A %$#@ Cold
Just got over a cold myself. First, I have a TOTAL FACE mask in the drawer for such occasions when mouth-breathing is a must. Afrin nasal spray will open those nasal passages immediately... just be careful to stop using it as soon as possible because it is highly addictive.

Re: Newbie with questions
jim, thank you so much for your support. have you always used the nose pillow type mask? cheers david While I have never turned my machine off in the middle of the night as you say you do ( I FORCED myself to keep it on all night), I have been through many, many, many different masks. I started wit...

Re: Newbie with questions
Hang in there. Most of us had a hard time getting used to this "new way of sleeping." Strange sounds, trying to exhale against a hurricane and tugging on hoses every time your head turns can be maddening. Rest assured, that "magic night" - the night you sleep all the way through - WILL come. I've be...

SIM Card Woes
Perhaps I have accidentally changed a setting, but I sure can't find it. For eight months, when I put my SIM card back in (after a trip to the computer for downloading to sleepyhead), my ResMed AutoSet S9 would show "Reading Card". Now, suddenly, every time I put the card in, a screen comes up askin...

Re: Dry mouth question
If you're waking with a dry mouth you can bet that at some point during the night your mouth opened (even if just a bit). For me, it tends to happen during dream state. Take a look at your numbers in Sleepyhead. If the leaks aren't horrible or if the mouth-leaking sessions are short and your AHI is ...

Sleepyhead Question
When I first began with cpap, I had a virtual brick (ResMed S9 Escape Auto). About 17 days into it, I convinced my DME to take that back and give me an S9 AutoSet. I downloaded Sleepyhead my very first day with cpap. To make a long story somewhat shorter, NOW when I look back over my Sleepyhead data...

Re: An Odd Aroma
Ok...solved the mystery. The smell was coming from the ResMed "heated hose." I reached around the back of the unit...twisted the hose so the machine reverted to just providing levels of humidification and NOT heating the hose. *poof* the smell went away. A few days later, I turned the hose back on a...

Re: Cpap not working?
I had the exact same problem with the pressure sore on the bridge of my nose. There is now a permanent scar there. Interestingly, it was the Mirage Quattro that did it to me as well. I tried moleskin, I tried the Gecko gel strip, I tried bandages, the problem just kept getting worse. In the end, the...

Re: Keeping notes in Sleepyhead
The graph has a timeline...I just note the time and make it a part of my narrative. For example, I might note "the two events between 10 and 10:15 can be ignored as I was wide awake."

Re: Tried the Wisp last night.
I have had success with the FitLife TOTAL FACE mask. It rings your entire face and makes no contact with the bridge of your nose.
At only 10 cm/h20 the total face mask can fill a little "smothery," but it is an alternative.

Re: AHI number, reason for concern
You will most likely NEVER have a zero. It just doesn't happen...not even for those who don't suffer with apnea. The general rule is, if your AHI is 5 or below, your therapy is working. If you awaken to taking a deep breath (as if you've been holding your breath) you've probably had an apnea event a...

Re: New Machine: AHI?
NOTHING helped the bridge of my poor nose. I tried bandages, Gecko pads, moleskin and more. Before the first week was out I had an open pressure sore that ultimately took 2.5 weeks to heal. ( Pressure sores can be serious problems.) Ultimately, I discovered nasal pillows and once I learned to not op...
