Re: mask fit with beard
I have a beard too and had the same problem when I started. The only thing that worked for me is the Airfit P10 (since the Nasal pillows do not interact with the beard at all), which left me with the problem that, because I use a very high pressure setting and have a tendency towards breathing throu...

Re: Chin Straps?
Been a user of Ultimate chin strap since I found some reviews for it here (http://sleepapneasolutionsinc.com/). Works for me but some people are not fans.
By the way, its a bit on the expensive side, but I like it.
To each their own.

Re: ASV newbie need setting help!
John is giving you the best advice. Get a sleep study so you will have an intelligent starting point for your therapy. Then check your data daily, post the data and I strongly suspect the people on this site will offer help. They did for me. I'm sure you will get the same.

Re: Ultimate Chin Strap
Russ and Mary are wonderful people to deal with and in my experience they have gone above and beyond in my expectations for customer service and I would not hestiate for a second in reccomending them. They will also give you your money back in the first 30 days if you don't find the product is for y...

Re: keeping your mouth closed while sleeping
Just to give you the beenfit of my experience. After many nights of waking up with dry mouth that finally convinced me I was mouth breathing and therefor not getting the full effect of cpap therapy (and my AHI stats showed it), I bit the bullet and went to a chinstrap and, while it took about a week...

Re: Nasal "rawness" from Swift LT pillows: normal? and how long?
I still use Lansinoh every nite. Helped tremendously with that raw feeling inside the nostrils (I have a fairly high pressure) and a little bit around each nostril also helped keep a good seal. Highly reccomended. For me it meant the diffence between keeping the pillows and getting rid of them.

Re: Second Wind CPAP review
I purchased my Philips Respironics AutoSV Advanced from Mark and cannot say enough good things about him and Second Wind. Also, if you have questions in the future, you will not find better support than from Mark. I too thought the prices and service were way above par and would also recommend them ...

Re: Respironics Confusing names---UPDATED guide for Newbies
Just to complete the post, the last machine in your list of System One series 50 machines, the AutoSV Advanced is DS 950 model. The entry should look like this: DS 950 The PR System One REMstar BiPAP Auto SV Advanced. This is a $5500 machine at cpap.com; it is used to treat folks with central and co...

Snoring after starting CPAP- not sure what to do
Hi all- Sorry for the newbie question, but I am a newbie. I have a PR 950 with EPAP 8-12, IPAP 15-22 and PSMin 7, PS Max 10. I just recently switched from a nasal mask to the Aloha Nasal pillows and love the Aloha. However, since I switched my wife has started complaining that, for the first time si...

Re: Ambien: good or bad?
For me the answer was a qualified "good." I am one of those people who have issues with getting to sleep as opposed to staying asleep. This was so despite reasonably good sleep hygiene and a consistent bedtime. So I have used either ambien or another sleep medicine that is used with sleep onset issu...

Re: DME tried to give me a discontinued ASV machine
Funny, but I just had almost the same thing happen to me today. I also went through alot of trouble to obtain approval for the autoSv from my insurer and specificially requested the PR System One 950. The RT showed up with a Remstar AutoSv which I understood was an older model (not sure if it was di...

Re: Resmed vs PR AutoSV equivalent question
Pugsy The DME was clearly pushing the Restar BiPAp Autosv Advanced and I refused delivery when they brought it out. There were a varierty of reasons but the basic one for me was I did not want to pay top dollar for 2-3 year old technology. The 950 is my choice. I have encore 2.1 and sleepyhead, both...

Re: Resmed vs PR AutoSV equivalent question
It sure does. Its one of the reasons why I am on this therapy in the first place.Pugsy wrote: If there is a chance that this data [central apneas] matters to you or your doctor...wait for the 950.
Thanks,
