Happy Birthday! You helped me out enormously about 18 months ago, and I still greatly appreciate it. I wish you the best.

Re: Opinions on partial night therapy
You are in great hands here with the regulars who have already responded to this thread (and thanks again to them for helping me in the past). I'll add my two cents from my own perspective: do everything you can, right away and consistently, to wrap the xpap-habit into your life. Not doing so only d...

Re: How do I do this?
I'm no doctor, and others on this forum undoubtedly know more, but my understanding is that the "home" test you took is hardly dispositive. Instead, it's often used as an "intermediary" test to give some comfort to an insurance company that the much more expensive "sleep study" is worth the money. B...

Re: DME: Using Tape "Is Creepy"
I was going through a spell where my leaks were very high and I kept seeing the red angry face for my leak status. I finally diagnosed the problem as the mask fit loosening when my face shape changed during the night so I tightened it to begin with. And it worked. Last night the leak status was 2 i...

Re: Terrible Dry Mouth
Curious: have you tried sleeping with your tongue placed agains the roof of your mouth as others have described the technique on this site? I'm wondering if, to the extent it "closes" the entry in your mouth and keeps most of the air passage through your nose, the the technique could help....

Re: Just diagnosed
Good luck to you and welcome! My two cents to help you through: be your own advocate, no one else will care about your condition and work on it as much as you will, so inform yourself and learn (as you are doing by coming here); if prescribed an xpap machine, avoid a "brick" and get one that will pr...

Re: My mask looses seal every night after 4-5 hours
At the beginning of the night my quattro mask seals perfectly and a couple hours later it leaks. No matter how I adjusted it keeps leaking. This has been happening for the last couple nights. I just changed from a resmed fx to a resmed quattro about 4 days ago. Since day one I have leaks. The reaso...

Re: Mold in water chamber...what the heck?
I found mold in my water chamber tonight for my Philips Respironics machine and I clean my mask once a week I clean my tubing once a month but I guess I forgot to clean the chamber for god knows how long and I've been having a breathing issues lately and I've been coughing hacking up yellow stuff I...

Re: Bruxism ( teeth grinding and clenching) solutions?
I got the expensive, custom-made mouth guard from my dentist (fits the upper teeth, and you put it in warm water for 30 seconds before placement in the mouth to make for a really good and comfortable seal). It's helped tremendously, and has helped prevent further gum problems. Based on what I've rea...

Re: Unable to tolerate nasal mask, oral mask equally difficult.
No objection to a full face mask other than I tried one a few years ago and I couldn't get it to fit properly, leaked a lot. But maybe time to try again. I'm traveling right now so no way to even get one until I'm back home. Any suggestions for a specific model would be appreciated. Leaks in a full...

Re: Brand new to board... a few questions before I get my CPAP
Gonna try mouth taping tonight. I think I have duct tape and packing tape on hand. Suggestions of one over the other? For my FFM (full face mask) use I found it started working a whole lot better when I started using tape. Some people end up using chin straps with FFM's. I tried and disliked chin s...

Re: Diagnosed with Severe at 21 and 15% bodyfat
First of all, I'm sorry to hear about your health issues. And while I'm glad that the diagnosis of sleep apnea would appear to be the major or even sole culprit ("glad" in the sense that sleep apnea is a very treatable problem), I also deeply sympathize with your sense of shock and dismay. Nobody at...

Re: The Age old topic of "To Tape or not to Tape"
For my FFM (full face mask) use I found it started working a whole lot better when I started using tape. Some people end up using chin straps with FFM's. I tried and disliked chin straps. For me, the "partial tape method" solves most of the issues with "mouth breathing" and "draw drop," which interr...

Re: New user trying to figure this thing out.
Two bits of unsolicited advice: if you're a big mouth breather, at least consider the "partial taping" system that is described elsewhere on the site. It's not for everyone, but I am very partial to it and have found that it helps prevent leaks that wake me up that occur when my face changes shape a...
