7 Months into my Therapy and Doing Pretty Good

I have been lurking here and just reading posts for the last few months. Learning a lot btw. Thought I would jump in and just mention my progress. I have been on CPAP now for just short of 7 months and on the whole I am doing pretty good. I am one of the small minority that took to xPap without much...

Re: apnia and atrial fibrillation

I was diagnosed with A-fib a year and a half ago. I would wake up in the middle of the night with my heart racing in A-Fib and I would have to go to the hospital and get cardio version to knock it back into proper rhythm. July of this year I was diagnosed with moderately severe sleep apnea. Accordin...

Dry mouth problem solved

Solved the problem I was having with dry mouth because my mouth was popping open due to pressure of 12cmH2O. I went back to my supplier and they dropped the pressure to 10cmH2O. Mouth still opens occasionally, but nothing I can't live with. I have however noticed that I am not sleeping as well on th...

Re: OT My left leg is huge

Stormy sorry to hear you are in hospital, but it is the best place for you right now until they get that clot cleared up. Just glad that you went there before anything happened to you. It's nice to know you have so many friends on this forum that care about you and gave you such good advice. You'll ...

Re: Not doing so well now

I only tried an FFM briefly during the titration study and couldn't even keep it on my face for longer than a few seconds. I haven't tried any other since then. I didn't even like the nasal mask I had to wear during titration, it was big and had one of those forehead pieces. Every time I woke up due...

Re: Not doing so well now

FFM is a problem for me as I am claustrophobic. I wasn't having this problem until the pressure increase. My AHI at the lower pressure was well below 5 and I felt good in the morning.

Not doing so well now

I started therapy on Sept 7 using an APAP to self titrate as I didn't yet have my results or a prescription. Thing were going quite well, my AHI was around 3 or below and I was sleeping through the night. Woke each morning feeling less groggy and foggy and didn't get tired so easily. This Tuesday I ...

Should bus drivers be tested for OSA??

There was a horrible accident this morning during rush hour in the west end of Ottawa. A double decker bus smoked a train and 6 people including the bus driver are dead. Thankfully the bus hit the train and not the other way around. That could have resulted in even more fatalities/injuries. Total of...

Re: First week on CPAP

Your worst night is better than my best night in 2.5 years. I am envious. I have yet to have a night with an AHI less than 10 as I can't tolerate the pressure they want me at of 21cm yet. Wow!!! That is a high pressure. I feel for you. Hopefully you will be able to work your way up to it. Do you tr...

First week on CPAP

Well I have had full week on CPAP and I have to say I have noticed a difference already. I am not so groggy and foggy and don't want to sleep so early in the day. I seem to be one of the lucky ones who took to the therapy like a duck to water and I seem to have found a good mask right off the bat. I...

Re: CPAP CAUSING ACID REFLUX

I have had very severe GERD for 20 years and I have been on various PPI's for most of the 20 years. I sleep on an 8" wedge, I'm careful what I eat, don't eat for 4 hours before bed, consume very little alcohol (it makes the GERD even worse). Most of the time it is under control, but it took quite a ...

Need help making sure I understand leak graphs

I am having trouble with leaks that wake me up so I am asking for help to make sure I understand what the graph is showing me: http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac23/elessadil/CpapSept10_13_zps63f89498.jpg I am disregarding the very first leak as that was just the mask coming right out of my nose w...

Re: 2nd Night on CPAP

I am surprised how good my numbers and experience have been so far especially since I read other posts and how much trouble other people are having adjusting to the therapy. I wouldn't have adjusted anything myself at this point, but I am also on Freecpapadvice and Jason, the sleep tech, suggested i...
