Re: Apnea cured by playing wind instruments?
I'm a tuba player. Apnea still severe as hell.
We trust the machines because they work and that's what they're for.
Tubas are for entertainment.
Listen to your doctor.

Re: Hi from new member (waiting for test results)
If I were you I would share these results with your sleep doc sooner rather than later. If you have an 80 AHI (which I'm not qualified to determine that you do), it might get you pushed closer to the front of the line for your testing/titration/Rx.
Best of luck.

Re: One night in with Therapy
Fantastic that you have got off to such a great start! I too had a pretty easy time adjusting to CPAP but in spite of an AMAZINGLY easy first night, nevertheless had a few bumpy ones after that. So, just to let you know: it's normal to have difficulty sleeping sometimes in the first few weeks. If th...

Re: Be honest, how is your diet?
So although my CPAP therapy is helping I'm still tired. It occurred to me that my diet may be playing a large part in this. I am over 40 and I eat somewhat healthy (some days more than others) but I know I could be doing so much better. Im not eating enough greens and protein. I fully admit I'm not...

Re: [Poll] and Seeking advice on Swift FX and AirFit P10
Swift FX: Used for several months. Not uncomfortable on the nose, but the headgear cut right across the bottom of my ear. Ouch. Also, the breeze coming out the vent holes in front was like a typhoon across my pillow. AirfitP10: Used a week or two. Not as comfortable as the Swift FX on the nose, but ...

Re: Noncompliant Failure
I wash my mask cushion in Dr Bronner's bar soap -- lavender or tea tree, whichever I have on hand. It's a very pure, simple soap and doesn't leave a smell on the mask. Your mileage may vary. I have not tried the peppermint.

Re: Rage, Depression - Changes with CPAP?
You're very early in your therapy. Before CPAP, I had massive desaturations and woke up many mornings with a blinding headache. Was falling asleep at the wheel on the regular, and was an emotional mess. It took a couple months to really feel like my emotional state had changed, and now I feel like a...

Re: Altitude changes...adjustment needed?
It depends on your machine. If I were you I would call your sleep doc and/or your DME.
My husband's machine (an old brick) had to be set +2 to deal with a 7,000 foot increase in elevation.

Re: Can people genuinely fail to tolerate CPAP?
Who knows. At first blush it sounds like that blog was written by someone who is convinced that they will never be able to use CPAP, so it's become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Whether that person's belief is due to other undiagnosed physical, neurological, or psychiatric issues, or what have you, it...

Re: Snoring while on CPAP
My husband has started snoring and also having hypopneas with his CPAP as well. (Because his machine is a brick, I had to trade with him so that I could get his Sleepyhead data to determine this.) He's going to see the sleep doc soon and hopefully the data will enable them to determine what he needs...

Re: Is cpap worth it for mild apena?
AirSense 10 Autoset. Good choice! I just wanted to echo what the others said about the importance of CPAP therapy even if your "numbers" are not high. My sleep test result said "moderate" apnea, but my symptoms were extreme. For me, CPAP has been life changing in every way. Whatever adjustment peri...
