Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
Thanks for the previous detailed reply Rick. Right a week in and happy to report good progress. AHI down to 2.2, 1.1 and 2.3 over the last three nights. Mask fit 95, 100 and 99%. Been getting 6-8 hours use of it per night with not too many problems, more psychological than anything - feeling claustr...

Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
Thanks. Yes it is early days but cannot see any real patterns myself. The specialist asked me to call her after a week when the results will have been downloaded and she can suggest any changes. I washed the mask and hose this morning and hoping to have a good night tonight. The graphic is just some...

Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
OK, I'm 5 days in and the results are looking odd! Started off well then went up and now last night a massive increase in hypopneas and very low apneas, and higher leakage. Anyone any ideas - nothing has changed. The only thing I have done over the last couple of days was eat my dinner 2 hours earli...

Re: Humidifier or Not???
Great, thanks for another reply. I mainly sleep breathing through my mouth, however last night my nose was clear and breathed through it, but strangely got a higher ahi rate, could that be connected or just coincidence? Obviously I guess I would have reverted to my mouth once I was fast asleep. My m...

Humidifier or Not???
I've been on cpap for little under a week and the nurse said I could order a humidifier on the NHS if required but she wanted to start me off without one. Can someone please fill me in on the + and - of using one please, I know it involves a certain amount of maintenance and boiling or getting speci...

Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
Thank's Rick, that all makes sense and is reassuring. The responsible ones like myself though would find it hard to drive when totally tired and wouldn't risk it. My car is parked up until I get the ok. My machine is brand new with Modem and Card, and can be adjusted remotely, so will be expecting l...

Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
We usually like to see the AHI be less than 5 here in the US but I have read that in other areas of the world the line in the sand is AHI of below 10. How are you feeling? How are you sleeping? How many hours of sleep are you getting? Are those flagged events showing up as dense clusters or spread ...

Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
Yes I did read that which is great information. I just wanted to know what if you struggle to sleep with Cpap but are still administering therapy for the required hours and getting an AHI of under 10 you will likely be given your licence back, ie. There is no way of them really knowing how tired you...

Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
Thanks for that. So when the DVLA look at the results to assess driving licence reinstatement is it assessed on treatment hours per night and the AHI?Pugsy wrote: Unfortunately none of these machines actually measure sleep quality or sleep stages or even if you slept at all.

Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
These are the grabs from my ap for the Dreamstation. Would other software give me more information than this? Is there a way I can find out how much actual sleep I had and the quality of that? http://www.shiningexamples.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image1.png http://www.shiningexamples.co.uk/wp-...

Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
Hi Rick, Thanks again. Yes it is st Luke's, but started out at Airedale and my second appointment last week was at BRI, but have my next appointment in January at St Luke's, then another appontment at Airedale! My understanding is the specialist will look at my results online and can advise me or ma...

Re: Newbie wanting starter advice!
Ok I'm back! Thanks so much for all the responses it is really helpful. I have used my machine for the first time last night and got on with it better than I thought. I watched TV with it on for an hour prior to going to sleep and would say it took me a while to get off to sleep and I did wake up se...
