The 1 litre addition has been working well. i had issues with the "Iron Lung" rental because instructions state turn on CPAP before turning on concentrator. Impossible task if unit 25- 50 feet away. You mentioned you are a mouth breather but using a nasal mask and taping your mouth shut. I would think this is the biggest part of your suffocation feel. I would suggest a proper full face mask. Secondly your air pressure may be too low. Mine was set as prescribed by my doctor and I can't change it...

Adding Oxygen to CPAP
My doctor suggested I add 1 Litre of oxygen to my CPAP. Anyone else doing similar? What are you using for a concentrator? How's it working out for you?

I have airfit20 and airtouch20 . I start out with the airfit and if I get discomfort or leaking in the middle of the night I switch out to the airtouch. Been working for a couple months. I tried pads but to much leakage.

As I got heavier, I found myself sleeping a lot during the day. Combine this with shortness of breath (COPD) and I always snored. Pulmonary doctor did home oxymiser test and suggested sleep apnea. I had the overnight hospital sleep test which I don't think I even slept 2 hours or at least not very w...

My auto set was @ 18 and I got that feeling> i had it lowered to 17, not a noticeable change. Asked the doctor for 15 and all seems better now. YMMV

If the water chamber is empty or near in the morning then it is working. If still full, you may have an issue.
