Switched Machines - should I expect adjustment period?
Like many others here, I had a Dreamstation and recently switched to a new machine, after purchasing one on my own. All I could find was a Dreamstation 2. Not my first choice given recent events, but better than continuing to use the recalled machine. What I am wondering is if I should anticipate an...

Re: Nasal Mask / Mouth Leak Queation
Thanks. Your theory totally makes sense. This is all good news for me. I just wish I'd tried the nasal mask sooner!

Re: Have you had a COVID-19 Vaccine or have an appt?
I got my first vaccine (Pfizer) 1/25, and just got the second dose this past Friday 2/12. I had a really sore arm for about three days after the first dose, but that was it. After the second dose, I felt out of sorts the day of the vaccine, and then mild fatigue and headache and some stomach issues ...

Re: Nasal Mask / Mouth Leak Queation
Thanks so much for the guidance, Pugsy. You are always so helpful. I don't see spikes in the bottom line, just a few bumps and mostly at zero or at a very low level, and don't see events or large leak. Leaks were a lot greater with the full face mask. Does it seem odd that the pressure needed would ...

Nasal Mask / Mouth Leak Queation
I recently started using a Dreamwear Nasal Mask. Previously I used the ResMed F30 full face mask. I always thought I was a mouth breather while I sleep, so that's why I started with a full face mask. Used it for about a year and a half, and liked it, but had a lot of dry mouth and throat. My doctor ...

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
Thanks so much to everyone that responded and provided advice on this topic. I found it very helpful advice, and have several factors to try adjusting now, and see what works.

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
I have boiled an AirFit F20 mask cushion with decent results. I used filtered water, added a bit of baking soda, and simmered in a pot of water on the stove per the directions. It did restore the silicone portion of the cushion, and there was not any negative impact on the hard plastic portion. I k...

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
The boiling and baking soda method can work. Explained here http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t75749/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=74686&p=685240&hilit=boil#p685240 Don't attempt it unless the cushion was going in the trash can anyway just in case you mess up. Some comments about when I tried it. I used tap ...

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
I use a Resmed F30 mask. The cushion consistently wears out for me in about 3 weeks. Insurance covers one a month. I wondered what things help a mask cushion to last longest, and/or what contributes to it wearing out more quickly. Any tips or information would be very much appreciated. Thanks. My a...

Re: New User / Questions / Titration Results
Let me qualify by first saying I don’t have the experience of many who are already advising you on this thread, however I have had my own challenges with my nasal passages and sinus irritation, and can pass along what I learned and seems to be working for me. I talked with my primary care, my sleep ...

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
I have a couple, I rotate. I was cleaning daily but I got lazy so now I just wipe off with a cotton round wet with rubbing alcohol. I have only had to toss one. When they get super soft I boil them as someone suggested and they get tacky again. :) Interesting, they can be boiled? The definite diffe...

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
Another thought I had of what possibly could be another factor, is that I am right in between using a size small and a size medium, according to the size chart that comes with the mask. I have used both sizes, and I thought the small was better (and what I have been using a few months now), but perh...

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
Hint: daily washing is DESTRUCTIVE. How? I don't get this one either. I've been daily washing with hot water and Dawn for two years on every mask I've owned, and as far as I can see, the only consequence has been me not getting acne or sores. I guess the baby wipes, or those citrus wipes the cpap s...

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
Describe "wears out".... My Simplus cushions last me 8-10 months and when I was using the Quattro, they lasted over a year. I rarely wash my cushions baby wipes every night. “Wears out”...After approximately three weeks, I get woken up at higher pressures because air is leaking on my face. Also, if...

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
A mask liner can help by shielding the silicone from your skin oils. Padacheek.com makes some that are reusable/washable, soft, and last for months. A clean face before bed can help--unscented baby wipe right before bed. Hint: daily washing is DESTRUCTIVE. Use the baby wipe on the mask, too. Avoid ...
