Re: I'm trying to learn how to read OSCAR data - can you add insights?
Here are two screenshots from Mar 4/Mar 5 Both days, I woke up feeling ok, but the 'brain fog' (confusion/tired) settled in right around 45 mins after wake up and continued till evening. I don't see anything off in my charts that I can pin point. Based on what I've read in other parts of the forums,...

Re: I'm trying to learn how to read OSCAR data - can you add insights?
I don't understand what a "real base line" is good for, putting aside the fact that titration studies are very very often wrong... <snip> It's not surprising that sleep studies are sometimes quite wrong, what's surprising is that they're ever right! The motivation for that is (actually _was_) as fo...

Re: Baseline AHI analysis with CPAP (without airflow adjustments)
My 'assistance' if you'll recall, was to tell you that you're wasting your time looking back. And RERA flags. And your opinion on the uselessness of sleep studies as a baseline. Look, I get it - when people ask and informed people respond, you get a combination of good advice + potential attitude. ...

Re: Baseline AHI analysis with CPAP (without airflow adjustments)
You were told in the very first response that what you wanted couldn't be done. You obviously didn't accept the response and explanation and tried any way. Please stop with the "All I want to do is learn, and the forum should support learning", this forum is all about providing education. In this a...

Re: I'm trying to learn how to read OSCAR data - can you add insights?
Now you know why I take RERA flagging with a grain of salt along with the absence of RERA flagging. It doesn't always make much sense. The section of respiration right after the RE flag...that actually points to probably just arousal breathing and most likely the machine didn't think that som...

Re: I'm trying to learn how to read OSCAR data - can you add insights?
Could someone help me understand why this particular event was marked a RERA? From the graphs, if at all, the chart right after the RERA segment seems more like RERA.

Re: Baseline AHI analysis with CPAP (without airflow adjustments)
And now, you're off the rails, instead of just working to make your therapy *better*. Quite the contrary. I am seeing improvement. Trying to understand should be supported especially in a forum that advocates owning your own therapy and using OSCAR. now if I said I am constantly tweaking things bas...

Re: Baseline AHI analysis with CPAP (without airflow adjustments)
(I wish this forum has multi-quote capabilities. If it did, I don' see the option when I respond) Stop looking back, start looking forward. Pull the data, post some charts, start getting better sleep. Fair enough. I did - right here http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t178568/Im-trying-to-learn-how-to...

Re: I'm trying to learn how to read OSCAR data - can you add insights?
And DS has a point....correlation doesn't always mean causation. People tend to want to put all their eggs in the sleep apnea basket and sometimes those eggs have nothing to do with sleep apnea. I think that is probably why so many people give up and say "cpap didn't help" because they had unrealis...

You are baiting at this point, and/or assuming you know more about basic statistics than me. I'l let that pass. Understandably, internet forums are an essential part of self-importance for many.

Re: I'm trying to learn how to read OSCAR data - can you add insights?
I am NOT saying that the area in question on that one report isn't REM related....all I am saying is that the machine doesn't respond to respiration rate as part of its auto adjusting algorithm. The auto algorithm only responds to airway related flow reductions of some sort that meet the criteria f...

Re: I'm trying to learn how to read OSCAR data - can you add insights?
If there is data, there is no harm in trying to understand them. Sometimes there is harm. People see patterns all the time and often they attribute causation where none exists. You did so in your previous analysis post. A lot of the time, incorrect pattern recognition and causation is harmless, oth...

Re: I'm trying to learn how to read OSCAR data - can you add insights?
But those graphs and OSCAR. I want to know what else I can do? Why must you do anything? Just because there is a lot of data and graphs, doesn't mean all of it is acted on. I'm not suggesting all of it should be acted upon. I'm simply trying to learn to interpret as much data as is logical. My hope...

Re: I'm trying to learn how to read OSCAR data - can you add insights?
Quit trying to overthink this stuff...it will be a lot easier for you. Or not....your choice. But those graphs and OSCAR. I want to know what else I can do? (The respiration rate part was actually something I picked up in this forum and it seemed to map to what I saw. The OA analysis was from...
