I woke up this morning with a painfully dry mouth and a full water tank. Apparently, my humidifier is not working. It looks to be hooked up correctly, and air is still going through it.
I know I can call the home health care people, but I was wondering if there's anything i can check for myself?
Humidifier not working
Re: Humidifier not working
About all you can do is use the preheat warm up function and in about 15 minutes pull the water chamber and feel the bottom for warmth. It should feel warm to the touch but not overly hot.
Did anything in your environment change? Raining? Windows open?

NO, everything is about the same in the environment.
Is there anything I can do afor the dry mouth until I can get this fixed/replaced? I took it off last night and slept without it because it was so uncomfortable, but I can already feel the difference in my sleep. I don't want to take too many more days "off". Would some of that Biotene gel be helpful?

Re: Humidifier not working
The Biotene gel or the Ora-gel gel is something to try. From what I have read Biotene change the gel formula a while back with a lot of unhappy campers as the result and I see a lot of people saying that the Ora-gel mouth moisturizing gel is better.
I don't have the dry mouth issue so I have never used any mouth moisturizing products myself so I can't offer personal experience in this area.
Your DME should have another humidifier handy to swap yours out if yours isn't heating up.
But do check for heating up first because there have been a few instances where the humidifier seemed to fail but it wasn't the humidifier...instead it was the electrical components (computer stuff) in the blower that failed.
If you go to your DME...take along both the blower and the humidifier.

Re: Humidifier not working
The humidifier seemingly quitting was a known problem with the 50 series machine and involved a loose/burnt connector on the little computer board.
This has been discussed on the forum and there are pictures of how to fix it but I thought they fixed that issue with the 60 series machine.
I am not comfortable opening up a machine that is likely still under warranty because I am real good at taking stuff apart and totally suck at putting it back together so I don't do that sort of stuff.
First thing to do though is the warm up check to see if the plate is even warming up.
The reason I asked about environment...if it's raining outside and I have the windows open I won't use much, if any, water. That's because the environment already is pretty much maxed out on humidity and the machine will sense it and not need to add much.

Re: Humidifier not working
I have the PR 760 and it does the warm up just fine, but seems to stop after that. Since under one month, I am getting a humidifier replacement.
Going to find the Ora-gel mouth gel as the Biotene gel does not last long enough for me.
