Help with Data from Sleepyhead download

Post by dabster » Mon Apr 11, 2016 7:06 pm

I have been using the cpap machine for about three weeks. I found this site today and am excited to find a site to help me educate myself on this venture and hopefully change in my quality of sleep.

I also downloaded the sleepyhead software and up loaded my data but I have no idea what it all means. I do know my hourly event was around 92 per hour and now routinely under four or even lower.

Would someone be kind enough to help me understand the data so I can adjust my machine if needed.

Please read through Pugsy's excellent tutorial thread that is pinned to the very top of this forum: viewtopic/t88983/Pugsys-PointersSleepyH ... Hints.html

Do not expect to understand everything by just reading through it. Understand what you can and the rest will come with time. But many, many of the basic questions you have are answered right there.

Also, please set your equipment in your profile to display as text instead of images - it makes it easier for people to see exactly which equipment you have.

How was your machine set up? Did they use the common less-than-optimal shortcut of just leaving the settings wide open at 4-20? If you post some sleepyhead charts, the information is all included there.

Hi,

First off, an AHI of 1.30 (means 1-1/3 events per hour) is very good. A lot better than 92 per hour before the machine. Even better, there are very few of the OA events that are probably the most significant type of event out there. You do have a few hypos and some snoring. Some doctors suggest that any level of snoring is bad. Bumping up the bottom pressure number might help with that. Since you are around 12 most of the time, if this were my data, I'd consider trying 12 and 13 as the lower pressure number. That way, machine lag won't result in you having an apnea event. Also note that your leak data looks great. That is the item that I struggled with the most when I first got started.

Thanks John,

I was curious about the lower pressure, I seem to struggle a little, as you described the air flow seems to drag behind me a little thus keeping me awake longer than usual. Normally I can fall asleep quickly but I felt like I am not getting enough air in the first 10 minutes so I focus on slowing my breathing to keep up.

I wear a full mask so I think this helps a little but from time to time and can hear the air escaping so I make a quick snap of the mask and it seems to reseal itself.

I felt like I was feeling more rested until this week, for some reason I have been very tired all week but my AHI has been from under 1 to 1.8 and average of 99 0n my Air app. with 6.5 to 7.5 hours of sleep which is more than I am used to getting.

My DME sent me a follow-up email this morning (30 day anniversary) so I asked him about it but haven't heard back yet....thanks for the info.
