CPAP for road warriors? HDM Z1?

Post by UKTony » Wed Oct 05, 2016 7:26 am

Hi All,

I'm looking to get a new CPAP, as my old one has had a relatively hard life and it's time for a refresh.

As per the subject I travel a lot, and my current CPAP is big and clunky, and often gets left at home because just one more bag is just one more hassle.

I've researched a little, and asked my doc to prescribe the Z1 from HDM + battery, which he was happy to do. I have a few questions first.

- Has anyone here got one of these that can share their experiences, good or bad.
- Are there any (better?) alternatives to this device?
- Can I still export data from the Z1 (standard) into Sleepyhead as I do for my current CPAP, or do I need the Z1 Auto (with the iPhone app).
- Can anyone recommend a "good" durable medical goods supplier that works with insurance and isn't one guy and his dog working out of his garage?

All input welcome as I'll be living with this machine daily for the next four years.

Thanks in advance,

Tony.

Expect a bit more noise.
Many of the rest of us use a full data Resmed or Respironics machine; and do not begrudge the extra weight,
as the good sleep is worth it. The miniature travel machines may not be as reliable, and have fewer features.

Cost and reduced life spand come to mind! Jim

If you can live with the trade offs to save a LB, many figure Quality of a full sized unit works better, Many can live with the HH, making a smaller package.

I have started to use my old S8 Autoset II for travel. With the builtin power supply it really is not that big.

Just spent my first week on the road with the Z1 Auto on a trip to Europe. LOVE the small size/weight, can't stand the noise, even wearing earplugs. Compliance reporting software is completely inadequate.

I had high hopes for this unit, dashed by the air noise. Sending it back.

Hoping ResMed's recently announced entry into the travel-sized market is better!

I have a Z1.... It is noisy. I added the muffler they make and that helped a bit.
Overall I don't sleep as well with it as my home maching (S9), but the weight of it and the power brick (plus the wear and tear) has me relying on the Z1 for travel.
I want to check out the new Resmed travel machine when it is released.

Wow is there really going to be a Resmed travel M? That would mean a lower voltage than they have now! When is it expected out!
