switching insurance - can you get replacement faster?
switching insurance - can you get replacement faster?
my old insurance i believe said i was eligible for a second/replacement machine after 5 years. my employer just changed insurers, after being about 4 years in with my original unit. for those who checked this type of situation themselves, should i be eligible now since it is a new insurer? whether i can get one now, or whether it is only after my machine hits the 5 year mark, what is my new insurer likely to require me to do in order to fund another machine? (see pulmonologist, get sleep study, etc)? thanks

The questions your asking likely will only be able to be answered by your new insurer. Call the number on the card and ask. All we can do here is guess.
I'm in the same situation. My machine is just under 5 years and I'm wanting to get a newer and better machine. I also just switched insurance so it will take a phone call to find out the details. Unless you have a really good policy, a lot of the time your better off paying for things out of pocket. That's likely what I will do, but will give the new insurer a call so I am informed.

Re: switching insurance - can you get replacement faster?
I bought a machine with only 106 hours on it from an individual that had just changed insurance. The "old" machine had just been bought my his insurance when he got new insurance through his company. The new insurance furnished him with a brand new machine and he decided to sell the older machine. I snapped it up so I would have a spare machine for me. My wife took my original spare when she started treatment. She used it for four months while they were trying to decide if she needed a bilevel machine or an ASV. They finally settled on the bilevel machine, so we let our insurance purchase a new machine for her. We now each have a spare machine if something happens.

Yes. Well for me my insurance switched and vs the standard 5 year thing, I was able to get my new ASV in 2 years. I am sure it depends on the insurance, if your doc will write a new script, if your sleep studies are not too old for the insurance etc etc
