weight gain after 2 weeks of CPAP

Post by Beat OSA » Fri Feb 19, 2021 12:28 am

Greeting. Is it normal for CPAP newbies to gain appetite and weight after 2 weeks of CPAP?

A few years ago, I wondered the same thing. As much as I love my CPAP, I've gradually gained weight over the 14 years I've used it. I found some studies that supported the idea that CPAP is associated with weight gain.

Curious to hear what others have to say about this. YMMV
Thx for reply. I can feel the change. I crave the food all day long.

Hey, just guessing here, but I wonder if you are hydrated enough. Sometimes thirst is confused with hunger. My CPAP dries me out, so I drink a lot of water each night before bed.
No, I don't think that is the cause. I already have a bad habit of drinking tea at night which I want to get rid of. Maybe I'm going to try the GLP-1 for weight control.

I lost 60 lbs in my first year of cpap. I had more energy and felt so much better.

Pandemic and 50 hour work weeks are undoing some of the ground I had won. I firmly believe sleeping better helps to keep me from feeling so hungry.

Craving is often caused by high blood sugar.
Diabetes is a common comorbidity of OSA.
Not everything is cpap--unwise to guess.
