Hi all,
Just a quick question regarding the Resmed standard filters.
My mother is using a Resmed Lumis 150 VPAP ST machine with the standard Resmed filters (I believe they are the same ones that the S9/S10 machines use).
Does it matter which side faces outward when you put them in the machine? I haven't really been paying attention to it, but on a recent video I watched on youtube it was mentioned that the smoother side needs to face inward and the fluffier side outward... Looking at the standard Resmed filters it can be quite difficult to tell which side is which, they basically look the same both sides, perhaps there a tiny different that I am not noticing?
I looked through my whole packet of 12 filters that I bought and one some of them there does appear to be a bulkier side and smoother side but in general a lot of them just look pretty much the same.
Does it really matter which side faces which way for the standard Resmed filters?
Thanks for any help

Shiny side in; fuzzy side out.

Re: Quick Resmed Filter Question
Thank you for the reply, just out of curiosity are you using the Resmed brand standard filters or a different brand?
Looking at the standard filters I purchased directly from Resmed it is very difficult to tell if one side is "shiny" and one side "fuzzy", they both look very similar, if there is any difference it must be very minor and they should probably do a better job at pointing it out via a symbol or something.
Thanks again for the reply.
Re: Quick Resmed Filter Question
I personally use third-party aftermarket bulk filters because I'm a cheapskate.
If it were actually important to put the filters in with a certain side out, the manual would specify. Since it doesn't, I assume that ResMed considers them nondirectional.
Still, I personally choose to put the fuzziest side out based on general filter principles as I understand them, as a broad rule of thumb with PAP blowers.
If I had filters that seemed the same on both sides, I wouldn't worry about which side went where. But if I can tell one side is shinier than the other, shiny side in.
Hey, just me.

Thank you again, and yes I agree with your assessment of shiny side facing inwards, that makes the most sense to me also.lazarus wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 5:53 pmI personally use third-party aftermarket bulk filters because I'm a cheapskate.

Hey, just me.
I just struggle to tell the difference between each side of the Resmed brand standard filters, perhaps my eyes are letting me down and there is a very small difference and one is indeed "shinier" than the other, but my eyes struggle to detect it.
Just wondering if anybody else who uses the Resmed brand standard filters have an easy way of telling which side is which, or if they don't worry about which way it goes into the machine.
Re: Quick Resmed Filter Question
I've never been able to tell any real difference in the front or back of the ResMed filters.....the standard or the hypoallergenic...both look and feel the same.
And it's been that way no matter if I am using ResMed OEM or generic of some sort.
Now Respironics brand name filters.....easy to spot the front from the back. They all have a slick shiny side and a fuzzy side.

Thank you! I was starting to go insane wondering why I was the only one who doesn't see any difference in them...Pugsy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 8:29 pmI've never been able to tell any real difference in the front or back of the ResMed filters.....the standard or the hypoallergenic...both look and feel the same.

So I am guessing since you haven't been able to tell any real difference in the Resmed brand filters that you don't pay any attention to which side is facing inward or outward when you replace them either?
Thanks!
