ebay removed my humidifier listing!

Post by Skodobah » Wed Aug 29, 2007 11:55 am

I was selling a barely used Respironics heated humidifier and they just took the listing off their site, saying it was a medical device. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe I should find another place to list it? Suggestions? Thank you!

Regards,

Julie

Where have you been???

We have been trashing Ebay for at least a week. Here is a link

They won't let you sell anything that make the DME'S money.

overstock.com auctions allow it, so far I have not seen any listings removed. Just not enough people selling stuff over there. Sometimes there are no CPAP items listed at all, but if everyone trying to sell their CPAP stuff on ebay moved to overstock.com then it will be easier to sell and buy CPAP stuff, specially machines and masks.

Oh wow! I just checked out the ebay trashing thread. Seems there is a witch hunt for all cpap stuff. And I just bought a mask from ebay a month ago! I'll check out Overstock.com. Does anyone know if Yahoo's auction site is cracking down, too? How lame and truly stupid. Oh well. The good old days of eBay have been long gone... the place is too big for its britches, in my opinion.

Yes, how about a cpap bartering/auction site? Anyone?

Just checked out Amazon... seems you can sell cpap stuff over there. In fact, there is a cpap machine listed right now.

Yahoo! US and Canada Auctions sites were closed on June 16, 2007!

It is NOT bought by eBay

This is written on that site:

After careful consideration, we have decided to close down our Yahoo! US and Canada Auction sites to better serve our valued customers through other Yahoo! properties.

Please Note: This does not impact leading Yahoo! Auction sites in Hong Kong | Singapore | Taiwan

The US and Canada Auctions sites will close June 16, 2007. We will continue to provide our sellers, bidders, and buyers with quality customer care and a limited set of features and tools through October 29, 2007.

Well, when all else fails there is Craigslist. I just listed my humidifier over there. Not exactly an auction, but it's something. They seem to allow all kinds of things, and after reading their policies I did not see anything questionable about listing my humidifier. After all, it does not require a prescription...

Craigslist allows prostitutes, so I'm sure a humidifier won't be a problem.

You can probably blame the sellers that try to get around the CPAP machine prohibition by listing a Humidifier but showing the matching CPAP machine as well as in photos, with something in the descriptive text saying things like "this auction includes everything in the pictures" or similar.

I suspect that eBay has simply run out of patience with that piece of attempted trickery to get around their rules and will tend to ban Humidifier listings on sight.

Cheers,

Bill

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You are correct. If "escorts" and "movie stars" are allowed, then a cpap humidifier shouldn't be a problem-o!
