wanting to switch to nasal pillows
I would like to switch to nasal pillows. Does anyone have any remarks as to which is best. I am using the comfort gel nasal mask but find it very uncomfortable to the bridge. any suggestions. any used ones for sale?
Re: wanting to switch to nasal pillows
You should check nasal pillow masks out on https://www.cpap.com. You can read about all of them and reviews from people who use them. That way you will get a idea of what's available and comments from people who bought them.
CPap.com has very good prices for masks. Another place where you can pick up a very good new or slightly used mask is http://www.cpapauction.com.

I had the same problem with the ComfortGel. I have switched to the Opus 360, and after adjusting the straps several times...it is pretty comfortable for me and I don't think leaking. I do have padacheeks on it that I wouldn't want to be without. I'm using the large pillow and the Ayr nasal gel.
I was told"
"try the Breeze nasal pillow interface, especially good if you sleep on your side. It does not have rigid pieces on the sides like the Opus does, so is less likely to cause a leak when you roll on your side".
Good Luck,
Georgio

Re: wanting to switch to nasal pillows
I have the Fisher & Paykel Opus 360 and love it. It's light, it's comfy, there's nothing on my forehead or in front of my eyes, the pillows seal well, and I always have a great leak rate. Some who use nasal pillows end up with sore nares, but that has NOT been my experience. I credit the cpaptalk community. I had read here that some over-tighten the straps, which jams the pillows inside as if they were nasal prongs. They aren't. It works much better to get the pillows in the right place with a looser fit on the straps. The air pressure completes the job of sealing by expanding the pillows.
When I went to my DME, I had narrowed my search down to the Opus 360 and the ResMed Swift LT. I tried both on and liked them, but when I experimentally put my hand along the side strap of the LT, as if I were laying on it, the mask moved. When I did the same with the Opus 360, it didn't. But that's me..... some prefer other masks. As you know, mask fit is as individual as face shape.
One note about the Opus 360... the side straps are made of a sturdy, somewhat flexible plastic. I'm pretty sure they're the reason the mask stays in place so well for me, together with the fact that I have high cheekbones. The straps lie just under my cheekbones, and they all work together to keep my mask in place. The plastic side straps do have padding on the inside, but as others have found, the plastic edges still found my face, and it wasn't comfy. As Georgio mentioned, something like Pad-A-Cheeks will take care of it. I made my own with scrap material and velcro. If I had it to do over again, I'd still pick the Opus 360. Getting a mask that stays where it belongs is the most important thing; the rest can be dealt with later. I hope you find the one that works best for you.
