I used the swift LT last night but it looked different then the one I had seen on the website that is linked here. This one did not go over my head but just down my face.
Bunkit, the hose on the swift LT will swivel around, you can turn it so it goes over your head. There's an extra clip you can use to clip it to the top of your head. I personally can't stand it going over the top of my head. I use mine pointed down. But some people prefer it up.

Oh wow! Thanks for the link. I giggled while reading it because it was so me.
Back when I was younger I know I lost brain cells while being pregnant.
The last year or so I couldn't figure out why I was still losing them. Or why I started losing them again? LOL
It's a bit embarrassing to not be able to hold an intelligent conversation AND not have a clue as to why. I don't converse with passengers very much for fear of saying something really stupid so I smile, do my job and am just as sweet as can be.
When I'm home, I hide out and I no longer do things with friends.
Thanks for opening my eyes a bit, making me feel better and giving me hope. I appreciate it.

Listen to the wisdom that is
Carbonman. Listen to the wisdom of the veterans on this board.
I didn't think I was going to be fine. I thought I was headed for disaster (even with treatment). I thought I would have permanent damage (still trying to get over that one).
Today I walked a mile (briskly!) at lunch and it felt almost like nothing, and I'm 5'6"/217lbs.
I'm not even two weeks into my therapy! )
Sleep well and live better!

The Remstar Pro 2 is an older machine but a very good one. If you search it on the fourm or search Wulfman's posts you can see how to set it up for you.
I didn't notice if Wulfman had seen your posts or not. You could PM him and ask him to walk you through setting up your step dad's machine for you. I don't look back at the posts - you do have a mask do you? There should be a 6' hose with that machine as well.
You're going to do fine! Good luck!

Yep. It's a VERY good (data-capable) machine and the one I started out with and still use.
Here are the instructions for setting it up.

When in the Setup Menu, the humidifier ^ and ramp v buttons operate as up and down keys to change the settings, the left/right user buttons < > allow you to go to the previous/next question or setting, and the pressure start/stop button is used to exit the Setup Menu. Continue holding the buttons down until the REMstar Pro 2 with C-Flex beeps twice. (about 5 seconds)
Note: The word "setup" will appear on all of the screens indicating that you are in the Therapy Setup Menu.

Thanks Den! I was just about to go searching for that to post.
Bunkit, when you say it looks long, do you mean long on your face, or are you daunted by the hoses? You need them long, so you can thrash about without pulling the machine off the nightstand or wherever you position it.
If the machine is turning off, It's probably because there is an "auto off" sensor that senses that no one is breathing air, and so it shuts down. I have mine set that way, so I can rip the mask off, leap out of bed, sprint to the potty, and it will shut itself off. I do this every night about 3 am. It's about the most exercise I get all day....
The mask probably WON'T fit you right. Don't despair. There's a zillion different masks out there, and you just have to try every single damned one until you find one you can stand. It's kinda like jeans and swimsuits.
If you PM me, I can put you on a Test Drive list for at least one mask - the Nasal Aire II. I've got links to more info about it below in my signature line. It's a great mask for those that love it. For those that don't, it's just one more POS. But at least with a free test drive you can find that out in the comfort of your own home, without having to shell out $100 + to buy a mask.
Cheers,
Babs
I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

The Remstar Pro 2 is a really good machine. It is a bit older but it is generally not as noisy and more durable than most of the new machines. It is also is fully data capable. If he is offering you might want to grab it. The only thing it does not have is Auto capability.

Oh Bunkit honey, you are CLASSIC SLEEP DEPRIVED!
The good news: For the rest of your life, you have a ready-made excuse. "Hey! I'm Sleep Deprived! What do you expect?"
