My Favorite Mask Game.....is this the norm?

Post by dieselgal » Fri Feb 27, 2009 10:28 am

Does anyone else do this?

I have the Activa it is my favorite mask.
I have the F&P HC407 it is my favorite mask
I have the Quattro XS it is my favorite mask
I have the Comfort Gel it is my favorite mask.

Seems like for a month or so I will use the same mask and then suddenly it bugs the puddin out of me and I switch to another and it feels great, then suddenly I can't stand it and I switch.
Before you know it I am back to the one that started bugging me in the first place and I start the cycle again.
So there you go, I have 4 favorite masks right now!

That sounds like me when I get my machine. I'm positive I will be the same way! LOL
At least you have a few others when one ticks you off.

I was at the DME getting my third mask and the tech was telling me that one of his clients has 12 masks that he rotates through!

If I had more $$$, I'd probably have a couple to switch through.

I'm the exact same way. I have never been truly happy with ANY mask but find that when I switch to a new one, I'm OK with it for about a week. Not nearly long enough.

Oh gosh. I've been on CPAP for less than 2 years and have acquired 7 masks with quite a variety of cushion and pillow sizes. Last night, I went to Wallyworld and bought even more tights and self-adhesive velcro strip to make that Swift Lt stay in place once and for all. Planned are puchases of the Breeze and the Activa Lt.

I counted my masks just the other day......I have 6......5 of them are UMFF's and one is the Comfortfull..... all I use is the UMFF's

Guess I dont fit in with the rest of you.....UMFF was my first and favorite....used the comfortfull only a couple of nights and didnt like it.

I'm like Handgunner45. I started out with the UMFF......liked it so well, I bought a backup......then bought about two or three more and many replacement seals (they're all still in their packages). I got curious and tried the Comfortfull 2 for about 3 nights before I gave up (it was the same type of mask I did my sleep study with). I bought a Quattro from a forum member and use it occasionally. Got a Zzz mask on a trial and couldn't keep it from leaking.

So, I'm still using my original UMFF mask with original headgear and seals......going on 4 years now.

Hmmm, having several loves that you can rotate through when one doesn't "act right" sounds like an enviable position... Most just have skeletons in their closet. I do have a couple old loves I know I can always go back to if need be. Masks too.

Sorry. My sense of humor is a little skewed today. Must be feeling better.

LOL!!! HA! HA!! That is so funny --that is what I went through myself at first!!! I started with the F&P Flexifit 407---then moved onto the the Comfort Gel, then tried the Swift II--the original with the HUGE barrels under the nose, then migrated to the Dream Seal or some mask that you wear on your forehead--ha!!ha!! I kept thinKing--OMG---there has GOT to be a better way than this to get some quality sleep!!! It was so hard---then I found the OPTI something or other--another nasal mask that worked pretty well. I could not stand that chin strap----it was only there to stablize the mask but I have a small chin so it slipped off during the night so I was still on a quest to find the holy grail of masks!!! Now, I have the SWIFT LT---it is a great mask --have used it the longest of all. Apria just sent me the SWIFT LT for HER --I got it yesterday and will plan on using that as soon as I get it out of the plastic and wash it up. So, to answer your question--yes, I believe you are normal. someday I will get all these masks that I don't use out and give them away --they are just sitting in my linen closet in a plastic rubbermaid tub where all the masks that don't work, go to die.

I have been using my CPAP machine for a little over a month and a half. I am now the owner of 2 masks... the F&P flexifit 407 and the AEIOMed headgear which I just received yesterday. I have had such a sore spot on the bridge of my nose from the F&P that wearing the AEIOMed last night was like heaven. I think it is a great idea to have a few different masks that you can rotate between when you feel the need...
I dont suffer from insanity.... I enjoy every minute of it!

I have been on therapy for six months now and it didn't take long for the masks to drive me crazy. I did solve the problem by using three Resmed masks- Liberty, Quattro and UMFF. All three seem to work just fine individually, but by the third night in a row with the same mask, I couldn't stand it. So I now use the Liberty every other night and rotate between the Quattro and UMFF the other nights. I also have an extra set of the silicon gaskets that I clean and switch out every two weeks. That way, every 14 days the Quattro and UMFF silicon gaskets are used only 3 or 4 times each and the Liberty's 7 times. My face seems to stay happy this way.

Well, here I go again, rubbing against the grain. After reading the fine reviews here I requested and received a Mirage Quatro FFM. It was a struggle but I finally adjusted to it and haven't tried other masks. There may be another out there but from this and other threads, I'll stick with the devil I know.

Yeah I currently have three different masks that I rotate around depending on my mood, how bad the sinus congestion is, whether the current mask is bugging me, etc. Would be nice to find the perfect mask that doesn't leak or bother me in some way, but that will probably never happen

I've just realised that what a faithful soul I am. Loyal, uncomplaining, what a catch. The whole 6 months I've been on the whose I've only had one 'love'

I've stuck with my first love for the whole time. Never even thought of trying anything else, even for a one nighter. Stuck in there through thick and thin, through leaks and rubbing, rainout, sickness and health.

So, is there life after Opus 360?

Hey, Kopoloff, maybe you're just a bear for punishment!

I have the same problem, one works fine for a while then suddenly has unstoppable leaks, is uncomfortable or whatever,
On the whole I seem to do better with the CL2, especially with Rested Gals hose i.l.o. the thick blue straps, but I love my Breeze.
So your as Normal as we are.
