Wow! Lenny Bruce looks a heckuva lot better than what I remember!

He looks so much more alive!

Thanks Gumby, now I'll be up all night trying to think of who said that?

Three Men Married Wives From Different States

The first man married a woman from Florida. He told her that she was to do the dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third day, he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put away.

The second man married a woman from Indiana. He gave his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. The first day he didn't see any results, but the next day he saw it was better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were done and there was a huge dinner on the table.

The third man married a girl from Missouri. He ordered her to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher.

Cute story. My second husband would be in deep do do if he knew me now.
You see we had a few pigs when we were married some 20 years ago so I learned how to castrate the little piglets, hence my fascination with wanting to castrate him. Since he left the picture I now am a pretty good marksperson and can handle a variety of firearms with ease..... My current husband who was a sniper in the army says he wouldn't want to piss me off. He has seem me shoot.

Of course I am really a big softie and would do anything to help anybody. I wouldn't even hurt a fly if the darn things would stay outside.

I've not posted in a long time, and if I feel there is something I can offer a person, tend to PM for that very reason.
Also cause I'm nearly always blocked at work. Most have been civil to me when I have posted, but working for that dreaded A word company puts me at a disadvantage.

I do know that many RTs are pretty self important, I hear it even from co-workers.

Trust though, there are a few of us around who learn from you "professionals". I don't wear CPAP, so who am I to state what mask feels best, etc. That's why I pop in here when something new has been released, so I can help MY patients. If you all say a mask sucks, I'm sure not going to offer it to someone.

I've also been able to use a lot of your suggestions for my patients, so it's been valuable to have this place as a resource, which I don't think is spelled right, so if it's not, feel free to let me know.

I think a huge part of the problem is that DMEs see us only when we are brain dead from lack of sleep. I know I came across as a total low IQed idiot but I have an honours degree in statistics, a good career as a systems analyst and programmer and I have built my own radios and amplifiers. I have also spent years studying alternative therapies to treat migraines and allergies. I am not really stupid.

But judging your clients when they are sleep deprived is like picking up someone drunk in a bar and then trying to relate to them is if they never sobered up.

Plus part of the healing process and coming to terms with ones chronic illness is anger. People feel betrayed because they got sick, they expected the medical system to "fix them" and nobody did. Especially in the sleep industry very few get the treatment they really need. The emotional component is never addressed. Most people have great difficulty with the concept - "I will never get well" "I have to wear this thing for the rest of my life"
So yes they are going to attack the RTs who stick their heads in here and tell us to be obedient little OSA cases.

We are not OSA cases - we are people who just happen to have this issue in our lives. It is our issue, it is for us to take control off. Most of us are adults who have been running our lives successfully.

It is us who grieve for our previous lives and possibilities.

We have every right to be angry.

RTs who find that upsetting need to go back to school and learn some people skills.

Hi Fidget, I've never "met" you before but on behalf of all our professionals, the very educated , the newbies and caregivers like myself, I thank you for getting what we're all about here and admitting the failings of many RTs. Although I was not in the sleep deprived and debilitated state my husband was in when we got the diagnosis, my level of anxiety and fear of the unknown and knowing I would be the one responsible for my husband's life was devastating. We did not feel any level of compassion from anyone on staff, it was strictly business and we had to fight for an auto data-capable machine and the mask we wanted. That only added to our stress and feeling of isolation. This forum saved us from what would surely have been one of the 50% of cpap failures. Hope to see you more often. Dori
