One question for those supporters of Obamacare. If it so awesome, why is the Obama administration handing out "opt out" forms to all their supporters like the unions and many of the giants in the health field??? Here is a look at the 100+ unions and health care providers that have been exempted from joining the rest of us poo folks that are required by law to join. It has been reported the list is now in excess of 200.

The publications linked to in that post show that this is not some kind of general "opt out," as The Texan calls it, but a one-year waiver of a specific interim rule about group plans with restrictive annual limits on essential benefits. These are no longer allowed after 2014, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services is supposed to phase in this requirement. The waivers allow some low limit plans to continue to be offered for the next year, to implement a provision of the bill that the interim rules should not substantially affect availability or price. I would like to see the evidence that these are being handed out to supporters, as The Texan charges, rather than through a fair and transparent process. The procedures and criteria for seeking a waiver and the names of the organizations granted a waiver are all public.

Why have an "opt out" at all, for anybody? Obama Care is suppose to create jobs, remember the political talking points. If its just for a year, like you say, why not let everyone "opt out".

The problem is the Obama Care is a job killer. The reason most of the crap doesn't start until 2014 is because they know its not going to work and we are going to be left holding the bill while these Congress people and Obama will be living high on the hog with free healthcare paid by the tax payers. Oh, by the way, Congress opted out too! The people know this. They voted out the scoundrels in historical numbers the past election. Have you heard about it?

I can't say this enough. We are BROKE. There is no Social Security Fund. There is no Medicare Fund. It comes out of general revenue which is borrowed money from the Chinese. How hard is that to understand?

Now we are going to add trillions more to the debt with this Obama Care. Give me a break.

Do you have evidence to support the claim?

For example, can you show that in the decade leading up to health care reform that job growth was high, foreclosures were low, and bankruptcy was decreasing? No, you can't because job growth was non-existant during the W reign (1.1% while the population grew much faster), foreclosures became an epidemic, and there were so many bankruptcies that they had to change the law.

So, then can you show that since the new health care law was enacted that the economy has gotten worse? No, you can't because the stock market has had a historic increase, job creation is happening, and companies are starting to offer raises to their employees in substantial numbers for the first time in years.

It appears that the evidence suggests that health care reform has already been a huge success from an economic standpoint, using your measures of success.

So? Does that mean that you don't have enough to eat? Or you lost your home? Or you cannot afford to heat your house? Or there are large numbers of starving people roaming the streets? The fact of the matter is that it really doesn't matter. It is just another in a long line of racist hate talk campaigns designed to suck in the weak minded by giving them someone to hate. It was the Italians in the 20's, the Germans in the 30's and 40's, the Russians in the 50's and 60's, the Japanese in the 70's and 80's, and now the Chinese and immigrants.

Trillions? Seriously? That is the whole problem with this kind of fear mongering...when you say something that is totally out in left field, you lose all credibility, and then, even if you did have some valid points in there somewhere, it all gets lost when you cannot pass the giggle test. Tomorrow, it might be better to spend some time listening to Glenn Miller rather than Glen Beck.

I don't understand why some here are trying to turn this into a Republican-Democrat thing. I don't belong to any party. I vote for people who I think will spend the publics money just like I spend my money. My personal budget is balanced always has been. I have never lived beyond my means and I don't see why anyone else should either and expect me to pay for it. Its that simple.

You're fighting a losing battle here. There will always be folks that can't see the forest for the trees. There's even a poster (who's probably a member here) that finds a need to post some crap anonymously. I'm with you - just hunker down and hope we can live to the bitter end before everything crashes. You should not be so worried. Obama is making a deal to restructure our debt with the Chinese. They will get Hawaii in exchange and then Congress can continue spending and we can stay in Afghanistan.

That's 20-year-old information. The Japanese economy hit the skids in the 1990s and some of the first things to go were their holdings in Hawaii. They still own some things there, but it's not anything like it was.
