Quattro FX issue?

Post by katcw » Wed May 04, 2011 6:20 pm

Hi, all,

I have found the Quattro FX to be the best mask for me (woo hoo!), but there is one issue I'm having: The interface does not always stay put in the slots on the main part of the mask. This connection is designed differently than the one on the regular Quattro - my guess is to save money -- but the two partially separate nearly every night, and I awaken in the night with a big leak. Anyone else having this problem?

I find I have more problems with it if I do the "pull back, allow to inflate, and lower to seal" than if I use the rock method described to put it in place. But I agree the cushion does separate easily from the frame.

I have that problem too. I started to tape the cushion in place.

I had this problem with the small Quattro but not with the medium. The medium cushion stays very snugly in place. I wonder if the problem with the cushion separating from the mask frame was due to a defect in the cushion. Anyone notice if the problem disappears or persists once they replace their cushions?

I HATE having to take a mask apart to clean it!!!! Grrrrr. Have had an intermittent problem w/the doggone separation you mention. Fortunately, not too often. Especially IF I remember to see that it is fitted in all around before donning my Quattro FX for the night. I'm using the Small Quattro FX.

I use the small, and a medium would be too big. I use the Xsmall with the regular Quattro.

Perhaps taping it is the answer, but what a bother! Or washing the cushion and frame together, but that probably means removing the straps, as they won't dry as fast. Then they will have to be adjusted each time I wash the mask. Right now I'm using the appropriate wipes to clean the cushion, so I don't have to keep taking the two apart.

Resmed, are you listening?

Bur I wonder if some of the cushions are defective regardless of size. Has anyone replaced theirs and had the problem disappear?

Before I got a Quattro FX and even joined this forum, I did a lot of searching through posts. In the thread below on Page 6, snoozysue talks about a possible defect.

As for me I have a medium and have had no problems. It is the best mask I have ever had. I always caveat that I don't use the FX headgear as I think it has the tendancy to pull the mask up along the nose instead of back. I just use elastic straps. Only issue is the top strap sometimes rides on my ears in the crease where eyeglasses are placed and it gets a little irritated.

I noticed the cushion spontaneously separated from the frame the first night--But that wasn't the main reason why I returned it.
Resmed apparently thinks my face should be flatter than it is. They can't comprehend a face as cute as mine, I guess.
