I keep waking up now that i look at data from pressure increases. DO many people have trouble with APAP?
I have a script to change my auto to fixed at 9 .
Anyone have experience with this issue?
Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg,
Ya I had loads of problems when I first started on apap. That's why many people narow the range once they know what pressure will work.
You aren't getting a different machine are you? It's nice to have an apap so you can spot check pressure requirements now and then...as conditions change. Weight loss for example.
Apaps can function as straight cpaps so you actually have two machines in one. So just change the settings and keep upper limit same as lower limit and oila...cpap.

Hi Jamis,
No, no new machine for me. I have the script to change it to fixed 9 and have the instructions to change it to CPAP. I just hesitate making changes.
What makes me angry is this is the second sleep doctor who listens to words I say, and never looks at the data. Then just says, hmm maybe you are sensitive to pressure change.
Honest, never looked at my data on or before the first visit.

Greg,
Nothing new there. My ex-Doc discounted machine data also. Just change it and see how you do. I mean...you can always change it back, right? Just jot down the current settings in case you want to change back.

i'd say keep trying the way it is. you haven't said how long you've been at it.
remember that most doctors were doing this long before smart machines and data cards, which aren't that old. all they had to go on was patient feedback unless they did a whole new study. i've been to the same sleep doc for 12 years that has 20+ yrs experience in a teaching hospital where he trains interns. he also has sleep apnea so he knows what i mean when i explain problems. he has never asked for any kind of data, nor has my dme. if i'm good, he's good. if i'm not good we deal with it.

Thanks Jamis and Uncle.
I am going to give it a try tonight and see what happens. I have had the auto and been trying since 9/27/2011.
