Second Wind CPAP review

Post by louie1961 » Wed Aug 07, 2013 11:33 am

I have been using CPAP for nearly 12 years, and I found I have much better results/compliance if I buy the machine I want rather than whatever the insurance/DME decides to give me. So I have mostly been buying CPAPs and equipment out of pocket. CPAP.com is great, and I have used them for years. That is until I needed to buy my latest machine.

I have a 2 year old ResMed S9 Autoset that took a tumble off of the table, and needs repair. So as to not be without a CPAP, I tried using my old CPAP (Respironics M series), and a loaner machine from CPAP.com (DeVilbiss Intellipap). Neither machine was getting the job done, and I wasn't very compliant on either machine. I had just become too comfortable with the S9 and EPR and nothing else was going to cut it. I started looking into getting a second S9 to have as a spare, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $800+ for just the flow generator unit. I started looking at secondwindcpap.com, and did some searches here and elsewhere. All the reviews seemed to be positive, so I gave them a shot.

When I called, Mark (the owner, and an RT) answered the phone. He was extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. I placed my order later that day by internet, and the order shipped the same day. 4 days later, UPS delivered the package, well packed, and undamaged. The machine is everything they promised and more. It looks brand new, it smells brand new, it has the latest firmware, it is AWESOME. For about half the price of new, I received a low hour (1 hour to be exact) machine that has been meticulously cleaned and tested. To top it off, they had (accidentally?) shipped me the unit with a humidifier, which I hadn't paid for. I wrote them to inform them of the issue, and they told me to keep it, at no charge. HOW COOL IS THAT??!

The unit shipped with a new power supply, hoses (slim line and heated), and original ResMed carrying case. I really don't think you could ask for much more than that, and with the savings to boot. I highly recommend this company to everyone.

I purchased my Philips Respironics AutoSV Advanced from Mark and cannot say enough good things about him and Second Wind. Also, if you have questions in the future, you will not find better support than from Mark. I too thought the prices and service were way above par and would also recommend them for a first and/or backup machine at a great price.

Thanks for the reviews. It's always good to store these things away for a rainy day

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Thanks for the review. Good to know these things as I meet many a patient that needs a second cpap for travel or have a love one with no insurance that needs a cpap.
Will start to recommend them!
