Climateline and Snugglehose
Probably a stupid question, but does anyone use a snugglehose cover with their heated hose and is it safe? As in, the hose won't overheat?

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
I am currently using a thin hose cover (from ResMed) on my Climateline without issues.
I have never tried a heavier hose cover simply because I haven't had the need but I have read of other forum members using the heavier hose covers, like the one from Padacheek, on their Climateline hose without issues.

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
I tried the thin cover by Resmed with the Climateline but it didn't cover the short P10 hose so I bought an 8 foot Snuggle cover. It sounded like a good idea and looked good too. I found that it caused condensation right at the mask's nasal port since that was the only area that wasn't insulated. I took off the cover and everything went back to working correctly. . . . I liked those hose covers too!

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
I mostly have the snugglehose to make the plasticless hard and more comfortable to sleep with. So perhaps if I make a cover for the mask hose then I shouldn't have the condensation issue. I might try that.

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
I use a cover I've had for years. It is shorter than the heated hose and mask extension hose, so I just pull it up onto the mask hose and leave a section down by the machine exposed. Nothing condenses in the heated hose section, and I just use it for comfort.

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
Duh...why didn't I think of this. for those covers that are shorter. It's more important to have the insulation at the mask end than at the machine end because 99.9% of any condensation is going to happen at the mask end because that's where the air in the hose gets cooled faster.Sleeprider wrote:I use a cover I've had for years. Only drawback I can see would be if someone is using one of those skin tight thin covers (like I have now) and the cover over the short mask hose causes me to lose flexibility of that short hose which I happen to need since I don't use any hose management system. I am going to move my thin hose tonight just to see what it does to flexibility....condensation for me really hasn't been an issue with the temps I use but it might be useful to know just how much my skinny hose cover affects the flexibility of that short hose.
I don't really need the Climateline covered at the machine end anyway. I have been using the cover just because I don't care for the feel of the plastic and as a potential safeguard to the hose against the cats from hell.

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
My cat is just stupid. The cover is a comfort issue for me. It does jack all for condensation, but it does make it more comfortable against my skin.

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
ResMed skinny thin hose can't be moved over to include the mask short hose...the rubber coupling is too large and it won't zip closed at the coupling. So I can't test flexibility of the short hose with that particular hose cover.

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
Mine is the old loose hose cover. I don't recall, but could be Padacheek. It fits over the large hoses and 22 mm fittings, so no problem. No zippers, just a Velcro closure at each end of the tube. Take my word for it, no problem with flexibility. It just feels soft and warm like flannel, and being loose, means the hose inside can freely move around. It disappears.

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
I don't think ResMed would recommend using any kind of a hose cover on any of their heated hoses and there's also a disclaimer on CPAP.com when you're on their website configuring a new ResMed machine; if you select a heated hose during the configuration process CPAP.com states they do not recommend using any kind of a hose cover on any of ResMed's heated hoses.

I thought Resmed said not to use any cover except theirs!

Re: Climateline and Snugglehose
I've been using the snuggle-hose hose cover on my climate line hose for more than 2 years now.... I tried the Pad-a-cheek version and it was too heavy for my personal tastes
The snuggle hose keeps it warm and eliminates the medical feel of the hose.
