Bringing S9 on a tropical vacation
I'm going to Thailand for two weeks. The overnight temps will be in the 80s with high humidity. I have an S9 with heated hose and humidifier and since I started with the machine in October I have only had it set to Auto with temp at 80.
My first thought was that maybe I would just bring the blower and not the humidifier. But then decided it was a bad idea to changed too many variables.
What should I expect with the humidifier? Should I leave it set on Auto? If I should change the setting, what should I change it to?
Thank you for help and ideas,

If it were me I would still use the Auto humidity setting and let the machine use the water as needed and it may not need to use much water depending on how much the inside the bedroom humidity might vary with the outside humidity.
Let the machine sort it out.
Since you can still alter temperature with humidity being automatic...you might find that the air is too warm and if that's so you can lower the temperature and humidity won't change. Like what I do here with warmer temps in the winter and cooler in the summer but my nose gets a nice constant humidity no matter what temp I use.
Let the machine sort it out.

Thanks Pugsy. That's what my intuition was telling me, but since I haven't played around with the humidifier at all, I wasn't sure.Pugsy wrote:If it were me I would still use the Auto humidity setting and let the machine use the water as needed and it may not need to use much water depending on how much the inside the bedroom humidity might vary with the outside humidity.

Whenever I traveled or had a hospital stay I always brought my backup machine only, never put my "good" apap at risk.
Re: Bringing S9 on a tropical vacation
I have two identical S9/H5i set ups that I rotate between home and travel every six months.

Oldie and Englandsf,
You're both right about having an extra machine. I don't have one yet. I have high deductible insurance and bought the first machine out of pocket, used. Maybe 2015 will be the year to get a backup/travel machine.

Chances are you will be in a room with A/C so I don't think humidity would be a major problem. I would bring my machine and start by setting the humidifier to auto. On the outside chance you are not sleeping in a room with A/C then I would still use the auto setting.

I traveled to Mexico a few times with my S9 as well as rainy humid London and always used the humidifier as well. It was so intuitive I got the same nights sleep there as I did in dry dry Las Vegas. Have fun! Jealous!

I am praying that there is AC but I'm not sure. I went back and looked at the hotel photos and saw ceiling fans. Uh-oh! It was 106 degrees in Chiang Mai last week.ApneaNoMore wrote:I traveled to Mexico a few times with my S9 as well as rainy humid London and always used the humidifier as well. Obviously not the best month to travel to Thailand. But my son is teaching English there and this is when his school break is.
Glad to hear that Auto on the humidifier means I can likely set it and forget it.

Re: Bringing S9 on a tropical vacation
I took mine to Costa Rica this past fall and did turn on the humidifier. We had NO air conditioning, just fans and ceiling fans and it was hot and extremely humid, but I slept very comfortably. After the 1st night adjusted to no air conditioning quite well, and slept better than I have in years.
