Tried an O2 Ring and now I wonder if I need CPAP

Because of Philips foamgate, I experimented with stopping my CPAP use for a day and put on a Wellue O2 ring to check my oxygen drops through the night. I only had three significant drops to 90% without the machine. I wonder now if I actually need CPAP or even have serious hypopneas that require CPAP therapy. I wonder now if the fussy setup in the sleep test just made me highly anxious and brought up my hypopneas artificially. Maybe, I'll test my O2 levels another night and observe some more.

Keep using the cpap.
Stopping that will do you more harm than anything in the machine.
Stop worrying.
If you drank the SoClean Kool-Aid, put the effing thing away,

There's more to having obstructive sleep apnea than just O2 drops.
People can have severe OSA and never see much of a drop at all. I have a friend with AHI in the 60...in lab sleep study...whose O2 never dropped below 94% from a normal baseline of 97%. It's why we don't use O2 results alone to diagnosis or rule out OSA.

I was diagnosed with an AHI of 23 and my O2 was mostly 94 to 99 and never dropped below 89. Just saying....

There is more to sleep disrupted by apnea than just O2 dropping. Apnea causes arousals, which means your brain goes to lighter sleep stages so that you breathe. So you are not getting sufficient deep stage restorative sleep or REM sleep to keep your brain and body healthy and functioning well.

If you had an in-lab study, there were EEG leads attached to your head. The people scoring the test know when you were asleep and awake. When you were awake, breathing events weren't scored. Hypopneas would not have been "brought up artificially".

An O2 drop to 90 doesn't mean much, they don't get excited till you get below 88% and for more than a few seconds.
