boiling cushions

Post by onward60 » Thu Sep 05, 2024 8:16 am

I have read threads about boiling cushions to revive them. They mention adding baking soda. Does anyone do this? Is the baking soda necessary? How much do you use or do you boil with just water? Thanks.

I believe that the silicone looses flexibility as the more volatile components evaporate. Heat would accelerate, not reverse this. But I am not a chemist.

Ah, I see the baking soda does matter. Thanks.

The baking soda helps the water foam up and boil over, while ensuring the resulting mess is increased.

A good mask is like a good cheeseburger. If it's not messy, it's not good.

The foaming might be from the release of carbon dioxide,
which is a major component of modern low toxin dry cleaning processes.
If I could get a pillow into a soda stream bottle, I wonder if heat is even needed.
