chin straps for small heads

Post by Artsyuno » Sat Nov 16, 2024 10:21 pm

Hi, all. I am about 3 weeks in to CPAP use. I’m using an N30i mask and a chins strap. We thought maybe I was a mouth breather and it’s not looking like that’s the case, but I feel more comfortable with a chin strap, because I often have difficulty getting to sleep and then open my mouth to yawn and that air rush is jarring. I was sent a simple strap with the cpap and I found it shifted around a lot when I moved my head (squirmy side sleeper) so I bought a different one online that feels more secure, but it’s a little big (I’m under 5” tall, circumference of my head/chin is 23”). The sides and chin portions are too wide so they’re hanging in my face and over my mouth and the ear holes don’t line up with my ears so I end up with my ears inside them and the edge of the ear holes sit on my ears and irritate them a bit.. Does anyone have suggestions for straps that work well for women/small heads? Thanks.

you may want to use a firm foam cervical collar instead of a chinstrap. this can be found at your drugstore or grocery store.it's in the aisle with bed pans and such.

or also on Amazon.com. here's some examples-

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Thanks. I got one, but it gets on my nerves so I keep removing it after an hour or two. I prefer a contoured chin strap, but need to find one that fits or start performing surgery on the one I have. :)

I use this Ruby style I got from amazon. It works great and has adjustments on the top and back of neck. So easy to fit. And as the top of head strap pulls your chin up vertically and not back. It doesn't effect your comfort from having your jaw pulled towards your neck. https://www.amazon.com/LEGEND-MEDICAL-R ... 183&sr=8-1
