How many people have a back up machine?

Post by Nealbopper » Fri Dec 19, 2008 7:18 pm

Hello all,

I'm just curious to see how many of you have a back up machine. I have 2 now as i just bought another one on CPAPauction because the price was right. I also have a spare for parts unless someone has a blow moter they are not using. Then i will have four and i might want to sell one. Thank you for participating. Neal

After my first week of therapy I knew I didn't want to spend a single night without my BiPap machiine. I started looking for a good deal on an Auto Bipap everywhere I could think of and finally found one on eBay that I was able to snag before it was de-listed. I am now ready for a machine failure and it's one less thing to worry about.

I actually have three machines. 1: The M-Series Plus forced upon me by the sleep lab and DME.
2: M-Series Pro
3: M-Series Auto

Want one....

Back-up (portable) power is first on the list.

Then, mask I can use with runny nose....

Then, I can save up for an affordable/used APAP.

A new "Classic" APAP w/HH, from https://www.cpap.com/, a auction bought "Classic" APAP, and a "Classic Pro 2", from Lincare. I have 6900 hours on the action APAP, like the Energizer Bunny, it just keeps blowing and blowing, and collecting data nightly.... Jim

My honey and I each have a M-Series Auto with CFLEX....our daily use machines. We have one M-Series Auto with AFLEX as a spare....purchased before the price was "fixed" upward. Back-up power for hurricanes comes from a 35 AH gell cell battery....along with a small charger to bring it up to full power....just before the storm hits. The back-up battery has been used 2-nights....during Gustav......and it worked perfectly.

My second one and soon to become primary cpap, which is a M Series Auto w/A-Flex, and the one my DME gave me will become the backup, which a M Series Plus w/C-Flex.

It's at the top of my list for when I find employment again.....
Haven't decided what it will be yet, but it'll be small, low power (battery?), and auto with data capabilities.....

cheers

I use the one listed below, and happily received the Resp. BiPAP auto w/Bi-Flex along with it, so I imagine I should be able to use that for backup once I can reprogram it to my prescription.

Since reading this board and imagining being without my machine....I bought yesterday:
--ultra mirage full face mask: I love their nose-only mask so I figured I might like their full face as well, and allergy season is coming here in Texas and I don't want to have to keep taping my mouth
--pollen filters
--spare hose, the Resp. Pure White 6 foot "performance" tubing
--heated humidifier spare couplings
--smart card reader

So I have backup mask and am ready for allergy season. I also own a neti pot and alternate nasal irrigation device, and use them. I will be needing surgery to fix the one non-functioning nostril, I'm sure....someday.

I also got a super cheap one at auction that has a smoke smell. That's for when I go to a cabin with a wood stove/fireplace for heat. I don't want to wreck my expensive machine by exposing them to smoke. I aired it out as best I could when I got it.

My DME will give me a loaner with a few hours notice. Hard to justify a second machine.

I voted, I have 2 machines in case on breaks!

The first one purchased:

1.Respironics Remstar Auto with C-Flex ( Classic Tank), this tank only has about 485 blower hours on it!

The second one purchased:

2.Respironics "M" Series Auto with A-Flex and C-Flex and it now has 1,343 hours of use on it.

I've been on therapy since August, 2007 if I count the month titration trial, if not I have been on since September, 2007, had Nasal Surgery in Nov.2007, so was off the hose (off and on) for about 4 months, that is why my blower hours seem short!

I have one I'm using right now. Bought the Zzz pap w/HH a couple of weeks ago because my M Series Pro C-Flex CPAP Machine was shutting down for no apparent reason. It is less than 6 months old to boot. Glad I have a backup machine now, especially since there are two of us on the hose in my house now.
