How much was your sleep study? Mine was in December $4113 before insurance and Febuary was $4550 brfore my insurance. Is this high? When i went in for the first one i was expecting $1000or maybe even $2000....

Had to look it up on my insurance website...and my first test billed amt was $2760.00 and my second
study was $2920.00. These figures represent the billed amounts and my insurance allowed $2100.00
of which $2,000 was applied to my deductible...yes, out of my pocket...ughhhhhhhh.
Not to mention, I had deductible for my equiptment (DME charges)...and ended up purchasing my
cpap through a member of this forum as every darn dollar seemed to hit my deductible for 'leasing'.
Sure glad 2008 is behind me insurance wise.

I'm going to find out tonight.
I get to contest my first bill because my insurance company misquoted the sleep lab last month saying that I was 100% covered. Just found out today that I was not but was told I can fight it because they messed up.

For both studies I'm out of pocket $1,037. (Minus $500 I hope).

On my First sleep study I was out of pocket $1987 and change. And i have yet to see the bill from the sleep center on this months study, ijust see what they tried to charge at the insurance web site.

Wow, mine in Tokyo was only about 63,000 yen ($643 USD) even before insurance got involved.

I feel bad when I read posts like these, where my new friends get screwed out of money. I didn't have to pay anything for either sleep study (HMO). At least I haven't gotten an EOB (Explanation of Benefits) or a bill (yet).

The only thing I had to pay was $20 of my DME, which was $169.

My pain is self inflicted...

I save about $500 a month on health insurance by having a high annual deductible. When you consider 6 grand a year and the number of years I've been saving (plus I still get to do the co-pay and the prescription card...), I'd say I'm well ahead paying for my own CPAP...

aaaah, the benefits of living in a frozen wasteland .......... with Medicare for all. Two days after being referred and put on a wait list, my sleep study at Ottawa's largest hospital cost me zero, nada, bupkiss, zilch .... as long as I ignore the oppressive income and consumption taxes on everything that moves or doesn't. The government of Ontario also spots the first $750 of equipment purchase before you torment any insurer you may have in reserve. The other side of that equation is the DME charges $1895 for a ResMed Autostart II and any mask.

This is my first post after three nights with my shiney new equipment ......and newly shiney bridge to my nose.

With some of the costs you guys have mentioned it shows how out of control some of our medical charges have become.
My own study was a split study and it cost $400.00. All of that was covered by insurance which I have through my employer.
However at 400.00 most of us would be able to do that even without insurance. I live in a small town in Texas.

I just got my EOB last night for my second study. And after the insurance my part is going to be $987. And i still get to pay for my machine. No so bad to stay alive i suppose
