Pur-Sleep Regenesis Pillow

Post by sleepycarol » Thu Mar 12, 2009 4:11 pm

I was lucky and was chosen to trial the new pillow Bret has made available on his website.

It is the Regenesis Pillow made with buckwheat hulls. It is incredible. I usually toss and turn some during the night and have been waking with stiffness and soreness in my neck, upper back, and shoulder region. For the last three or so years I have been using a good quality memory foam pillow. I love my memory foam pillow and do not have any real problems sleeping with it except for the stiffness and soreness. I do know I do NOT want to go back to using regular pillows as they give me fits and never seem to give me a good nights sleep.

Well when Bret mentioned here on the forum he wanted a few members to try out his new pillow I jumped at the chance!! As many are already aware -- he makes great products and has excellent customer service. He generously offers these products to us to trial allowing us to better our treatment at his expense. Of course, then he is paid back by having unbiased opinions and suggestions about ways to improve his products by real users.

I used the pillow for the first time last night. Let me tell you -- it was way beyond my expectations. It was comfortable. It cradled my head with great support and this morning no soreness or stiffness. I was able to move, toss, and turn without problems with my mask. The pillow is well made with nice thick ticking that can be washed (after removing the hulls via the zippered opening), is a generous 4 inches thick and measure approximately 13 inches wide by 19 inches long -- regular pillow size. He included a pillowcase to boot and it is designed to accommodate the extra thickness of the pillow.

If you are looking for a great pillow -- please check out Bret's pillow. It does not have any divets cut out but I do not think you need them with this particular pillow.

If you have questions ask and I will try to answer them about my pillow. I will update this in a couple of days to let you know how the pillow continues to work.

THANKS BRET!!

I love my memory foam pillow, but this sounds very intriguing! I suppose it would cost a bizillion dollars to ship one to Oz but I would be very interested in delving more. I will watch this post for your updates and may try to get in touch about obtaining the new pillow.

cheers

I wanted to give the pillow a couple of more nights before updating this thread.

I have used the pillow exclusively for the last three nights or so and have been very pleased with the results.

I am really picky about my pillow and prior to using the memory foam pillow I use I would typically replace my pillow every 3 to 6 months. I hate a pillow that goes flat, doesn't offer support, shifts shapes, etc. I tried cheap pillows, moderate priced pillows, higher end pillows. After 3 to 6 months they usually didn't cut the "mustard" anymore and I would break down and replace it. I do use a king size pillow (we have a king size bed as well). My first experience with the memory foam pillows were one from Wal-Mart. It was regular size and just wasn't long enough as I would roll off from it in the night and end up with neck pain. So being creative I purchased a second pillow and used two end for end. The smashed down before long and so I ditched them. We have a store that carries factory returns, damage freight, overstocks, etc. I was there and found two Tempurpedic king size memory foam pillows and purchased them three years ago. Have been using them since.

My first night with Bret's new Regenesis Pillow was fantastic. I thought it might be a fluke and so far -- it has been great!! My neck pain, soreness, and stiffness has been greatly reduced, if not eliminated. No more stiff neck and shoulders in the morning. I can move at night and the pillow shifts according to my needs. I like support in the neck area and it provides that yet cradles my head like I want. Very comfy and is easily "bunched" in the shape you like. The pillow is very firm but is flexible as the buckwheat hulls shift and so the firmness is not noticed and the good thing is that you can easily add more buckwheat hulls or remove some to your liking. The pillow has not interfered with my mask at all, although I do use a nasal pillow mask.

If anyone is interested I am willing to try the mask with my full face mask to compare --just let me know if you would like this comparison.

I recommend this pillow to anyone needing or looking for a new pillow!!

I wonder if the option of a queen-sized pillow might be offered? Pricing?

I did ask Bret if a king size option could be made available. Hopefully he will check into the queen and king size options for those of us that do not like regular size pillows. Hope he agrees?

As far as pricing goes you can check his website for the pricing of the regular size pillow.

Never mind, I found the website ... I don't have a problem with the price, albeit a tad expensive, but I do have a problem with their payment methods and apparent practice. I looks as though they require you to create an account with them, and on top of that, the section where you enter your credit card information makes one to believe that they will be adding that sensitive information to the account you are required to create with them ... not a good combination to say the least ... it would be much more palatable if they would offer something like Paypal as a payment option, or not capture you personal credit card information to include on their servers with your account ...

Okay, you have officially ventured over into the "obsessed" category... I'm thinking professional help might be in order. I haven't seen this kind of obsession since "The Wrath of Kahn" -- "he tasks me... he tasks me...".

Good luck and I hope you get some help.

I was thinking the same thing. Y'all check ebay, or any on line dealer. You can get any size and shape buckwheat pillow. They are expensive, but not that expensive!!!

Or, for the more adventurous, there's "The Kit"
How To Make Buckwheat Hull Pillows

Supplies Needed:

organic, pillow grade buckwheat hulls
zippered cotton pillowcase liner
regular pillowcase

Directions:

Fill the zippered pillowcase liner with buckwheat hulls. Fill to your preference, but you don’t want them so full that the pillow will be hard or stiff while sleeping on it.

Place the zippered pillowcase liner inside a pillowcase by putting the zipper side in first. In case the zipper opens a bit and lets a few buckwheat hulls out, you’ll be able to feel it inside the pillowcase rather than having rogue buckwheat hulls swimming around in your bed.
