Oximeter

I had scary low O2 readings in my sleep study. When using CPAP, I am very stable in the 94% to 96% area. I do use an oximeter every 90 days or so to spot check things just to make sure nothing changes.

Re: Oximeter
If a person's sleep study shows normal oxygen saturation on CPAP, and they feel well on CPAP therapy, and the AHI is under 1.0, and they are not short of breath with exercise, should an oximeter still be used at night on CPAP ?

My situation is significantly different than most here, but I want to pipe in with an answer.bilnap wrote:Is anyone oxygen deficient? Have you used an oximeter to check for oxygen saturation? Have you been prescribed to take make up oxygen along with your BiPap treatment?
Yes, I was prescribed oxygen while on a bipap machine. Even now, on a ventilator, I use 2L of oxygen every night. With all this, we're still barely able to keep my oxygen level above 90 all night and sometimes aren't successful.
I purchased a recording pulse ox monitor so that I could keep an eye on this situation myself. And by doing the checks myself, I've found that my situation can be variable from night to night. I have nights where I have a couple significant desats into the lower 80's. But other nights I stay at 90% or above all night.
There are other people here on oxygen with their therapy.

Physician, No, not unless you want to spend the money just to satisfy your curiosity now and then.
Bilnap, yes, yes, and yes. I have COPD and OSA. I use a bi-level PAP w/2L of 02 supplementation and I've bought, first, an SPO 7500 recording oximeter and, second, a ConTec CMS-50D+ recording oximeter; both of which came w/their own software. I've also used the S8 ResLink w/my Resmed PAPs to monitor my Sp02% during the night.
