water type

what is the right type of water to use in the humidifier? Also why, if I'm using a nasal mask, why, on occasion is my mother also filling with compressed air?

No clue about the compressed air but you should use distilled water in the humidifier. You can find it at Walmart or grocery market for less than a $1.

Distilled water.

Presuming 'mother' is mouth.

When you breathe through your nose, sometimes if you relax your tongue from the top of your mouth, the air will go up your nose then push out of your mouth. If your lips are closed, then your cheeks will puff out and mouth fill with air.

Cheers,
xena

Yup, now compressed air makes much more sense when you say mouth.

It just means mom has some really bad gas.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

The spell check programs are faulty--
When someone types in 'moth', the first alternative SHOULD be 'mouth', not 'mother'
This is what you get when your spell check program is outsourced to a country where they don't speak English!
I misstype a lot, which is why I often edit right after I post--my spell check is between my ears.

Distilled water. It's all I use and I've never had a problem.

I generally proof what I write but still miss some things. But when I saw mother, just didn't think of mouth, LOL.

Tzvi, aata medaber Ivrit? As I understand your questions, the manufacturers, of the humidifies such as Resmed don't specify that the water should be distilled, but most of us have decided that it is safer. As to the compressed air, you probably mean the exhaled air coming out from the mask thru the vent holes. There are masks that direct the flow of air sideways b/c of this problem.

p.s. when I learned English in elementary school, fifth grade, in Israel I also had grammar mistakes. And I also have them now.

Tamshikh kakhah, Kol hakavod!

Both RT from both DMEs I've been involved with told me distilled water. I wouldn't have thought of it on my own. I will say when I've had to travel, I've used bottled water because I'm not hauling water around with me.

Hmmm, I believe my Resmed user manual did specify distilled water if I remember correctly - if not, I'm wrong

Cheers,
