PRS1 60-Series Heated Hose - Should It Feel Warm?

Post by heiff » Tue Feb 04, 2014 1:58 pm

Hi everyone, I recently switched from a Respironics M-series APAP to a PR System One 60-series with the heated hose. It works GREAT, but I have the heat turned up all the way on the hose, and it does not feel to me as though it gets even slightly warm to the touch - is that normal? With the M-series, I was using a Repti Heat Cable with a rheostat inside the hose cover, and the warmth was pretty obvious.

I have used both the 60 series heated hose and the S9 Climateline heated hose.
Neither hose felt particularly warm to the touch yet both worked just fine.

Even though not particularly warm like we would expect...definitely warmer than when it hadn't been on for a while....like middle of the day or something.

Try it a couple of hours before bed..then do the warm up thing for about 30 minutes and try it again. I think you will feel the difference.

Without the heated hose during the winter time even with the PR S1 set to max I would get ice cube nose from the cold air.

Thanks! That helps - I had a feeling that maybe the effect might be more subtle as far as touch, since there the element is much much longer with all those coils in the hose. I'll give it a try with the preheat~

.
It's totally personal.

As an example, every time my adult kids come over to the house to visit during the winter months they always complain: "Why do you keep the house so damned cold?" Well, first off my wife and I live in Central California and secondly the thermostat is always set at 68 degrees, not exactly a freezing environment IMO. For the sake of harmony when I see them pull up in the driveway, rather than have the same tedious conversation, I automatically kick the thermostat up to 73 degrees... mostly just to make 'em shut their yaps.

It's all part of the human condition.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

If the room is very cold, it will feel warm. When it is "warm" it is below skin temperature so it won't feel very warm.
