Re: Side Benefits of CPAP
Believe it or not -- increased hair growth on the top of my mostly bald head. Not super thick, but there is hair there that wasn't there before CPAP.
Other positive benefits -- the airflow seems to keep my nasal passages more clear.

Re: Side Benefits of CPAP
Ditto the air pressure keeping my nasal passages open. That is a tremendous benefit, and that alone is almost worth the slight inconvenience of the machine and mask.
Along with that, my mouth is seldom if ever painfully dry. Congestion would previously cause me to prop it open to allow me to continue breathing.
Able to just pull the covers over my head completely and continue breathing fresh air. This may sound silly but I LIKE sleeping this way -- it's comfy. Also, it means that the light doesn't bother me if I am napping during the day or my wife is turning on lights at night.
These three items are together a strong enough benefit for me to justify using the machine even if there were no other quality of sleep or long term health benefits.
Truthfully, I LIKE my mask better than "no mask".
Also, even though it is a known benefit, it's really peripheral to the core reason for CPAP: No snoring to disturb my wife (the claims to NEVER have heard the machine or the hose. She was previously forced to wear ear plugs for decades to deal with the snoring.)

Hubby likes me quiet--no snoring, talking, gasping, etc.

Oh yeah, this is one of the best side benefits! Not just my wife, but if I'm camping with friends, or, frankly, bothering people in adjoining hotel rooms when on business trips. It has happened..HerbM wrote:Also, even though it is a known benefit, it's really peripheral to the core reason for CPAP: No snoring to disturb my wife

Re: Side Benefits of CPAP
I had trouble with very bad nose bleeds for several years. None since CPAP. Plus the energy and memory!
