Hello folks
I've been a cpap user since 2005 and I currently using a Respironics System one bipap.
My machine is giving up and I might need a replacement soon so I am trying to figure if I should get the same or there is a better model now or even different brand that I should go for instead the Respironics but unfortunately I am away from the Cpap scene since 2013 and I am really outdated as far as new machines go.
I appreciate if by any chance anybody here could give me a quick insight if something changed (for better) since last time I bought my respironics PR760 HS and what should I aim for.
Thanks
Dan
Looking for a bipap replacement
Re: Looking for a bipap replacement
If you are using that 760 in Auto BiPAP mode, I'd suggest replacing it with the new PR DreamStation BiPAP Auto. It would have an Auto algorithm that is based on the one that the 760 uses.
The other main alternative would be a Resmed AirCurve 10 VPAP Auto. The auto algorithm on the Resmeds works differently however.
The difference in the two Auto BiPAP algorithms can by summarized as follows:
The PR auto BiPAP algorithm independently increases/decreases IPAP/EPAP in response to what's going on. So the PS varies throughout the night.
The Resmed auto VPAP algorithm increases/decreases IPAP/EPAP together in response to what's going on. In other words the PS is fixed throughout the night.
