Resmed aircurve 10 - whistling noise

Post by pruettdj » Tue Jun 16, 2020 5:47 am

So, the last few nights my machine has been making a gentle whistling noise, I think it’s whenever it decides it needs to turn up the pressure? On its face the noise isn’t terrible, but I’m sleeping with a six month old and the whistling sounds just like him waking up? Like not the screaming times, like the ‘hey, what’s going on’ baby squeak. Anyway, basically it wakes me up constantly. Is this common? It sounds like an internal seal is coming loose or something, but it sounds like opening one up will effectively break it?

Pull the water chamber out and look inside and feel around for the 2 seals in the back. That's an easy place to look. Maybe one is crimped or something. One has a fairly easy replacement to get. It's the outlet air seal.

The other one I haven't been able to find but I would assume it fails less since the other one is easily found.

Is it still under warranty? How long have you had it?

If you have had the machine less than 2 years it is under warranty. Take it back to your DME. But, first....make sure the seal on the water chamber is installed properly and be sure there is no leak in your hose.

  • Check for leaks
  • Tighten and ensure hose and mask are seated properly
  • Ensure humidifier and seal are seated properly. The ResMed humidifier not being pushed all the way in is a very common cause of noise
  • Open filter door, ensure filter is seated properly and doesn't need changing
  • Place device on mat or rubber cupboard stop buttons to dampen noise.

I get a whistle from my machine when the water chamber is not seated correctly. When my wife adds water to the machine, she does not get it pushed in enough when she puts the water chamber into the machine.

I'm not sure if anyone from the original discussion is still checking this, but I too have begun to have a whistling noise from my ResMed aircurve 10 Vauto device. The difference I have from the other posts is that the whistling noise only occurs when I exhale. I have learned to sleep with it but it is very annoying to my wife. Any ideas?

Do you have a short hose ? Check the connection from hose to mask.
