moisturizer/night cream

Post by sweetdreams » Fri Jan 05, 2007 5:48 pm

After almost two months of cpap, and nightly cleaning my face to remove makeup, etc., I've not been putting any moisterizer or night cream back on and my face is feeling it. I do moisturize in the morning before make up but would appreciate any suggestions that wouldn;t be bad for the mask.
...Thanks

Depends on which kind of masks you use. Nasal pillows don't cover much of the face and would least likely to slip and slide. You could moisturize most of your face.

the only mask I have is the Activa nasal mask, so it comes right across my nose and under eyes and forehead rest. I may have to change masks for the reason of taking care of my skin too, but the Activa seems to be working well, although really hangs over my top lips and don't know if it is suppose to.

I've actually been using the proactive system before bed. I let it all dry first before putting on my mask. I haven't noticed anything happening to the mask, Been using it for about 6 months now. I was really having a problem with zits around the nose and under the bands of my mask, since using this stuff, they've cleared up and I only get one once in a while now. A few people have been comenting about the clear up.

Could you take off your makeup & moisturize earlier in the evening? Maybe even when you get home from work, though even 30-45 minutes before bed should be long enough. By doing it earlier, by the time you go to bed, all the moisturizer should be soaked into your skin; though it feels excessively greasy, you could cleanse it again with a very mild facial cleansers just to be safe.

Christine, that's a good idea. Does your Activa almost cover your top lip?

I have super dry skin that really requires a heavy night moisturizer so moisturizing was a big concern for me when I purchased my cpap mask. It was one of my major reasons for choosing the Comfort Lite 2 with nasal pillows. Fortunately, the mask is very comfortable, and I'm able to put cream on all of my face except where the forehead piece and nasal pillows rest on my skin.

I use Olay's moisture balancing facial wash at night and this seems to keep my face from drying out too badly. I also have Olay's night cleanser that supposedly continues to moisturize for about three hours after washing your face. It isn't a greasy feeling at all.

Man, I tried Proactiv before and my face was so dry from that. Well, raw too from the second step. Thankfully I bought it from QVC and was able to return it for a full refund. I must have sensitive skin. (I was kind of bummed too. I've had more zits in my late 30's than I did at all in high school. Must be the hormone thing.) LOL

Now it's Olay all the way.

One other thing that I've been doing differently is that I wash with lukewarm water now, not hot. I think that has made a big difference too.

I've found the Mary Kay Formula 3 (oily skin, but there are other formulas for different skin types) as well as some of the Neutrogena products have helped too, and I usually put them on earlier in the evening so they all absorb before I put on the mask.

Water-based and non-comogenic (won't clog pores) moisturizers are also good.

Sleepergal, if you are a mouth breather, can you wear a system like your comfort lite 2?

Thanks all.

I mouth breathe and do quite well with the CL2. I just tape my mouth shut every night!
