"new?" Resmed Card to Cloud

Post by Grace~~~ » Tue Jun 07, 2022 10:19 pm

Hello.

I have a RESMED Autoset 10 (black version though *my* pronoun is 'her') 8) .

It's time to get a new machine and I anticipate problems with my insurance as I've had nothing but problems with them since beginning CPAP.

I think I'd just like the same machine I have. I am comfortable with it.

I see that there is a new "Card to CLoud" version. What does this mean? It appears the exact Autoset I have is unavailable many places. I do not want "a brick" or "a trick" and I want to be prepared to advocate for myself if someone tries to force a different machine on me.

I would also like to know if anyone has had problems with the 11? Or if there is a genuine health reason to prefer the 11? The style and look of the machine means nothing to me.

I do not use the humidifier if that makes any difference. I have removed it and the end is capped so that's not a feature that has value to me.

Thanks for any and all advice.
Began XPAP May 2016. Autoset Pressure min. 8 / max 15. Ramp off. ERP set at 2. No humidity. Sleepyhead software installed and being looked at daily, though only beginning to understand the data.

Resmed, like so many other manufacturers around the world, is having a problem sourcing semiconductors. Some car brands are leaving out features such as lane centring - Resmed has left out the modem. So to get your data to your DME or doctor you have to use the SD card. Otherwise it's a normal machine, just a bit disabled in a way that may or may not matter to you.
* Download Oscar

* An alternative to Oscar - try SleepHQ

I have no medical training or qualifications. Take my advice for what it's worth.

Shameless plug alert.

To quote the host with the most:
The AirSense 10™ Card-to-Cloud is the same whisper-quiet, well-loved AirSense 10 machine without the built-in cellular communication modem. The new AirSense 10 Card-to-Cloud machine includes an SD card to help you track comprehensive data about your sleep apnea therapy. With the new SD card, you’ll be equipped with your sleep apnea data, allowing you to receive therapy support from your doctor and gather compliance reports.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

It's mostly about 3G cell service being shut down in U.S., so modems on older machines weren't working anyway.

Still a great machine, IMO.

Not enough vetted boots-on-the-ground intel for a consensus sitrep to know if A11 is a mission success yet or not. Different blower motor.

It might actually be a plus for those currently running airplane mode,
but sick of the endess nagging to turn AM off.

According to the S11 Clinical Manual, the S11 does have a Cellular Modem.

Yes?

And according to the Air 10 Clinical Manuals, they too have Cellular modems.

This new Card to Cloud device is a new initiative, seemingly to address the supply chain problem acquiring [4g] modems. Maybe they'll completely replace all Air 10 cellular enabled devices, maybe the'll show up in the Air 11 devices, maybe they're a temporary solution, maybe they're marketed to accommodate the better not track me crowd, who knows.

But for such a new initiative, there should not be much expectation that they be documented in manuals yet.

So, some may currently be sold minus the modem chip, at least until available.
I wonder if once the chips are available, your DME will be allowed to put them in.
Not likely, would be my guess.

If that is the only way, then it won't happen.
If dealers were smarter . . .
Or if anyone, even their masters, trusted them . . .

That would depend on the linguistic rules of engagement within any particular zone of fire.

But I believe the term has been adopted in the UK by the medical community for a daily summary of the state of medical services there.

I read on the rv groups about people having problems with the 11 and dc power cords not being available. Don't know if you care but if you are needing a battery back up it might be an issue. Note I have not verified this myself its just something I read about. I am still running the 10.

"card to cloud" implied that was some mechanism to transfer the data to the cloud somehow. But from what I read there is no way to pull that off without the modem?

I just got my AirSense 11 today. It has a modem that uses G4 technology. Mine uses T-Mobile which uses AT&T cell towers. Since AT&T barely works in my neighborhood I only have 1 bar. I'm not worried about it though because I don't need them to monitor for compliance with my insurance. I read online you can look on the back or bottom of the AirSense 10 to see if it uses 3G or 4G. It was so easy to set up and I'm changing from a Phillips Dreamstation. Going from the AirSense 10 to 11 would be a cinch. The touchscreen works just like a cell phone touchscreen.

A military abbreviation would be an acronym, wouldn't it?
