Finishing my sentence about custom making:

A company in Europe had a method of custom making face mask by photographing your face with a grid projected onto it, then cutting the hard shell of their design to suit you.
(Soft seal of course then slips onto edge of hard shell.)

But US FDA insisted they had to approve it, never mind the method is non-invasive, not slept with, and FDA has approved dozens of designs that do not fit you well.

I have a vague recollection that there was a service in Texas that modified masks, perhaps for Fisher&Paykel of Australia, for several hundred dollars.

I started to fiddle with F&P masks such as IIRC 432 which had an extra foam support for the cushion, but was able to just use nostril interfaces. Today F&P claim great things for this design: https://www.fphcare.com/nz/homecare/sle ... ks/vitera/

i'm asking which masks you've seen. you've made a claim and i'd like to see proof of that.

He might be thinking of non-vented, hospital masks that are used with ventilators.

Non-vented ones don’t have an exhalation system. This means you should only use non-vented full-face masks together with ventilators that have an active exhalation valve, and alarms and safety system for device failure.

My review is listed, note it takes rigor in following instructions and fiddling to get it molded right.

I watch for deterioration as don't want it to break up in mouth.

Beware that the term 'surgery' to reduce OSA can apply to different parts of your body:
- sinus passages (which go way up into your head)
- inside of nose
- back of tongue (one method heated tissue to scar it)
- inserting small plastic stiffening rods into back of tongue

Your body may regrow some areas.

Some are especially painful during recovery.

Do research with your doctor.

Well excuse me jerker, I neglected to document with photographs.

Of course if you had a clue you'd look at masks from several years ago, and variations for hospital environment. Do your homework.
