Eclipse fix

Post by Bluper » Mon Apr 03, 2023 9:40 am

I just got an email from Tom Honeywell at Bleep and he wants me to try the new and improved eclipse halos. They think they fixed the separation issue. I'll let you know after I get them in a week or so. Happy Days!

Are you buying or are you getting freebies to try?

If buying...from where and how do we know that we are getting the newly produced/fixed halos.

They are sending them to me free to see if they fixed the problem. I'll let you know if they work.

What is the separation issue??

I pre-ordered a year supply of the new ones, which I received a couple/few months ago, but have only tried once or twice, because I still have boxes of the old ones.

I did have a problem when I did use them, but wasn't sure what the issue was.

Should I be worried?

I also got the free box as a tester. First night, no bueno. Ring seperated after about 4 hours and I had to switch back to my P10.

I just got my box to try starting tonight. I'm hoping it works better. The first ones leaked after about 2 hours. Fingers crossed.

Curious to hear how your night goes. Here was my night:

After about 2 hours I woke up to massive leaks on both nostrils. Where your nostril divot is. This has always been a challenging spot for me for some reason. I was able to get sealed back up by pressing as hard as possible right where the leak was.

Back to sleep and woke up 2 hours later with another leak. This time only on one side but it was clear I had a metal ring separation. Right around the "12 o'clock" position if you refer to the questionnaire Bleep sent with the test box. With no way to stop this leak I removed the Halos and put on my P10 mask.

One thing I noticed is Bleep is still having an issue with the metal ring not being completely centered over the openings in the Halo. I had mentioned this to Tom and he said that the new production line will be checking for rings that are not centered well and spit them off the production line. There is an acceptable range however where slightly misaligned rings will not be rejected. In this box the misalignment wasn't horrible but was definitely still here. I am not sure but maybe Bleep needs to further dial this in. Since a major issue is the ring separation then the misalignment of the ring is certainly not helping the situation as there is less adhesive between the Halo and the ring if there is a misalignment.

So I got my freebie box to try and I also have some paperwork to fill out as well and report back.

Just got the box today so tonight will be the first night.

I am not so sure that ring mal-alignment with the holes in the adhesive is the main problem here.
I have reused the rings (long story and no time to go into it right now) and I certainly didn't have the rings and the holes lined up anywhere near perfect yet I never had the metal ring pull off the glue back when I was re using the metal rings.

And yes...I have had the same problem so I know what is happening.
I did the pre order thing as well...got my 3 months supply the end of December...first 4 boxes I had maybe one or two rings come loose out of the 4 boxes but once I opened the 5th box things went to hell right away with massive ring failures the first 4 nights straight...then I decided to do the rolling pin trick that I used to do when I was re-using the metal rings.
It seemed to help...some nights no failure at all and other nights it waited to time to get up to fail.

Of course I won't be doing the rolling pin trick on this box. Experiments...keep your variables to a minimum.

Let the testers do their testing and reporting.
If you are a tester and have a problem...report it to Tom or Stuart or whomever you are supposed to report to.
It's the only way that we have to try to figure out the problem and/or if it has been fixed.

Rolling pin or a big can of canned something. Roll across the halos with some pressure to maybe help stick better and not come loose so easily or so soon.
I don't know how much it might actually have helped but when I was re-using the metal rings (had to wash them and soak in alcohol and then apply to blank adhesive) and I got those rings crooked all the time and I rarely had one come loose.
Extra pressure to help them stick better.

I did the same with boxes number 5 and 6 and it did help. Wasn't totally fool proof but at least I had nights where the rings didn't come loose or if they did it was right at the end of the night instead of at the beginning.

So I had about 2 months before I started seeing consistently that the metal rings were coming loose.
Visually all the halos looked the same as well.

Give the rolling pin a try on your older halos.
Don't do anything to the new testing halos....at least for the first week where we have to report and the second week you could try the rolling pin if you had very many come loose after this current testing.

The testing....one week and after that you could do whatever you want that second week since we got one box of the new production halos which is 2 weeks worth.

With no idea when this will be cleared up, I will be sticking with my p10 supplies.

How'd the testing go?

So far I have had 5 nights...metal ring failure night one...then 4 nights with no failure...go figure.

I'll have to prompt my DME to try to get the "2nd gen" Eclipse.
Luckily, I am stocked up enough that I can get away with not
ordering anything from them until they get me what I want.

I finished the Eclipse test. The new halos are really good. I prefer the original Bleep but now the Eclipse is an option. Kudos to Stewart!
