OSCAR 1.5 - Overfills Laptop Screen

Post by ozij » Sat Sep 02, 2023 9:30 am

Tried both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.
All screens are too large, unusable on my laptop.
No such problem with 1.4.

Uninstalled, reinstalled 1.4 -- size is fine.
Recommended display scaling for my Laptop is 150%

I'm also having weirdness with text getting cut off. I assume a .1 would fix it

I installed yesterday.
Nothing seems to have changed at all for me. Graphs and texts look just like they always did.
Using a laptop myself.

Different version OS?
(I just threw that out there, having no clue myself.)

If you've previously changed your font, then you may need to change it back for 1.5, since it's got changes to the display engine to better deal with high resolution displays.

Which font are you referring to?

I don't know, I don't have the problem, but others with high res graphics did, and they'd have had to make changes in order to keep Oscar from looking like garbage with older versions.

Some of us set a larger font size, when we are overdue for new glasses.
Then forget what we did.
I wonder if that is what is happening.

i see it, particularly on the second one. in the yellow box, the final line of text is cut in half all the way across.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Well, if she means "the pages are too big for my screen" I have to wonder if that has something to do with that "Recommended display scaling for my Laptop is 150% " And where she set that.

Recommended by Dell, the maker of the Vostro 5490.

This is how my cpaptalk screen looks with those settings:
Note the font sizes, and the scroll button on the side.

Zonker sees correctly what palerider didn't see.
I couldn't even see the OK button when I looked at the "Appearance" tab in preferences.
